2025 Daytona 200

oldironnow

This week,
but I’m not going to make it.
Too much going on.

MotoAmerica is still running the race, but it’s not points paying for the Supersport class in the 200, which is why the Rahal/Spies team isn’t running.

Super Hooligans are running two points paying races.
Last year’s results:

I’m not going either.

Bummer, I had a few offers to stay in a few places.
Taking to a few guys, next year they are changing things around.  $200 to $300 is gonna give you infield, camping
and all the races.  Some of the Vintage stuff might get set up in the infield also.

Word has it Mike Dunlop, the Isle of Mann guy, is running the 200 this time out.  That’s gonna be interesting.

Not responsible for time this place could take out of one’s productivity.

I signed up for MotoAm. and am looking forward to watching the 200.
I started a plan for the wife and I to go but started adding up the cost for room and board, fuel, dog boarding for two dogs, food, tickets and enclosed trailer rental to haul the bike and dialysis machine and decided the money would be better served on the garage build this year so I'll be couchin it.

Price increase?
That’ll bring ‘em in.
My mind says I got three days of turn 3/4 camping and tickets for under $200…
Or am I delusionally misremembering this ?

I had to force myself to be frugal and miss it, and more frugal and miss Austin, as well.

Irving-Vincent news -

It looks like the Aussie Vincent will make its USA debut at Laguna Seca (July11-13).

I skipped around in Thursday's track time at Daytona and heard no mention of the bike.

An internet search digs up this long story that makes the point :

Re: 2025 Daytona 200

I signed up for tomorrow, the 8th.
12 bucks just for the day.

It looks like it’s gonna stream all day to the iPhone.
I tried a few years ago with the motocross.

And it never worked. Streaming.

It’s like they never could handle the sudden, massive
number of people logging on all at once.

Hopefully tomorrow is gonna be different.

I ran the stream all day until they shut it down.
Which means, MotoAm can handle the gradual, limited number of people, logging on randomly throughout the day 😀

Highlights guys.

The 2 pitstops have become very important.
I think it’s like the best teams are doin it in 5 seconds.
With 2 stops, let’s say a team takes 9 seconds.
At the end of the race, that puts a team 8 seconds behind.
Try making that up.

Mike Dunlop, great to see him there.
He’s a mid pack guy at the 200.
Maybe he just has the balls to go wfo at the IOM, sho knows. He just wasn’t, to me anyway, as smooth as the top 5 guys at this event.
Great interview with him, hellof a nice guy.

It’s astonishing, fan wise.
I mean, was there anyone at all in the stands?

That was a Josh Herrin and Taylor Scott race for the most part until Esculante jumped in.
Herrin brought the hammer the five laps and broke the fastest lap record a couple of times.
That’s his third in a row wins.
Good race.

Yes,a great race it was. Harley’s domination in both hooligans and baggers.

It was cool yo see the Arch motorcycle is getting in. To the race. The only air cooled bike.

Dunlop fell off the lead lap when he struck (I think) a curb and the chain hopped off the rear sprocket.
It was great seeing the ‘real roads’ racers in the top 10 (lead!) for a while.
