Oldiron puts up Dakar.
Rossi has his dirt track invitational. And American Supercross begins. The 2025 season is here my friends! This round is run like American Dirt Track. 2 heats. The last chance qualifier. And the main for each class. https://youtu.be/CuqqW5BwmzY?si=ov3u9oevs42uD2ob At this point in time, talk is Deegain is unbeatable in the 250s. Lawrence the Australian is a lock to repeat as 450 Champion. Roczen on the kick start Suzuki is washed up. And KTM is lost. |
Round 3.
https://youtu.be/RAJhHLJPTwk?si=bajW23GUHSj5p_G_ Kickstart Kenny, the factory rider that rides for the factory that doesn’t field a team, grabs the red plate! On the only brand that doesn’t have electric start lol! |

Deegan had a great save in 250 heat 2. The announcer called him down but nope. Somehow he pulled it out. Good ridding. Watching the race highlights got me thinking about the tracks and who builds these tracks. I was surprised to see it’s done by some young guys at Dirtworx. I just figured it was your typical bearded 50 year old operator. https://youtu.be/mX7_Tsd-fH0?si=FCmzcLlwXY5xVExa Here they are in St. Louis maintaining and cleaning it up. They only carry one machine with them from track to track. It’s a skid steer that uses a Harley rake to smooth out the flat to ramps transition. https://youtu.be/gBc_h8cB74k?si=BGF1NjhPhy7bNhQw . Round 4.
Tripple crown format. https://youtu.be/MwC-y_DE0Oo?si=toXRHD39Dw7v9oSu In the 250’s. Triumph history tonight. Jordan Smith wins a moto, plus the overall for the night for the British manufacturer. If you check out the series standings at the end of this clip, you’ll see Smith and Triumph are but 2 points behind the leader. It’s that close. https://youtu.be/tc1Cv1BAhrg?si=iPeZ3vmmizy8_jfe Truly a great thing in the world of motorcycle racing. 👍 |
Jeez……seeing the injuries in motogp today I went and looked at the status of Jet Lawrence and the what was supposed to be small knee injury in race 3 at Glendale, rd 4 above. It’s at 3.25 on the tape.
He’s the defending 450 Supercross Champion. He’s Hondas top guy in that class. He’s the guys that’s supposed to break all the records before he retires. He carries the #1 plate. And all it takes is a foot getting caught in a rut so small it’s hard to see, to take you out for the season. Yep. MRI shows both ACL and MCI injuries. The big tendon and main cartilage both torn. In other words, he blew his knee out. 4 to 6 months on crutches, or the couch. |

I was watching that race today and missed the rut grab. Just saw Jet pulling of the track with his right leg dangling. Even in the replay the rut was unseen but I could see his leg jerk back. Bummer he jacked it up so bad.

That sucks.
‘For the want of a nail…’ For the fact of a rut.. a season was lost. So much randomness.

I was really looking forward to seeing Tomac, Jet, Hunter, Roczen go at it this year……now not so much.
How about Mookie @ the last rd, that was Awesome 👏 Detroit starts in less than one hour. I think I got more of a kick watching the get all excited than watching the riders |
Hondas guys yeah, both hurt, out for this series, (the red curse continues), and Tomac broken leg yes that’s a bummer. But, you gotta be in it to win it. I don’t wanna hear that crap “but the top guys got hurt, it’s kind of a hollow Championship now.” A guy can’t hang, a guy can’t finish, he was too weak, or made his bad luck. Come back when you’re ready. Roczen is in it. Webb is a very strong contender. And Sexton, despite what some say, just might win it again, in spite of himself. Kickstart Kenny to win it all, that would be something. |
“Heard about Houston?
Heard about Detroit? Heard about Pittsburgh, PA???” ![]() From this press release I stopped reading, sounds like it was good. .

Here we go. Round 6 of the 450s.
The “4, Chase Sexton, is KTMS top guy. He struggles with making small mistakes, kinda always has. With Tomac and the Lawrence brothers out with injuries, some say it’s Sextons series to lose. The rivalry between “2 and “94, Webb and Roczen, goes way back. However it happened, Roczen is married to and has kids with Webbs ex girlfriend. Another fun fact…….Detroit, is the only track that starts racing at 12 noon. Apparently, come sundown, everyone wants to be packed up and on their way out of that place. https://youtu.be/OCyw4Sb4Jlc?si=ReHCqxqbAtmU7-zH lol…..easy to miss, but Webb showing Roczen how he feels after passing him for the win as they clear the finish line. ![]() |
Good post - thanks for the details I missed. I actually stumbled onto the 250/450 final earlier today on broadcast TV. It was a good watch. Anstie’s Yamaha seemed different on the restart. It would bog in the corner. My thought was either the engine heat-soaked during the red flag, or Anstie was out of ‘gas’.

Indy. Round 9.
This round is called a shootout. They take all the 250 riders, both East and West, and run them together. Kind of important to the riders, bragging rights go to who does best here. Usually, the guy that does best here is considered the best 250 rider in the nation. Not on the East Coast. Not on the West Coast. Best in America. https://youtu.be/nxV1xer0yBc?si=Vvt2afIhk-VYhD9n Webb, the number 2, shows a bit of superstition in the 450s. Felt so good on his heat race he told the mechanics not to change a thing on the bike. And then took it a step farther by using the same dirty gear in the main he rode with in the heat. Which he wins😄 |
