The end of June and it's time for Assen.
Dear godzz, the first one of us who goes to Assen needs to get a fricken trophy.

FP1 wet wet wet giving Miller a chance to show his wet weather skills finishing out in first place.
Mir and Pol following behind in 2n an 3rd. FP2 started on wet tires turning to a dry track with teams switching to slicks. Bagnia topped it out with Aleix following behind in 2nd and Quartararo in third. Aleix’s trackside team screwed the pooch and failed to remove the rear tire water spoiler when switching to slicks so his times were scratched. Pol Espargaro still having rib pain from his crash in Germany has pulled out of the race. . You meet some of the best folks behind bars. |

You were oh so close on that grand tour you took (and wrote such incredible stories about). My in-person track bucket list: IOMTT Philip Island NW200 Mugello Assen Portimao Donnington (Approximately that order 😉) After in retire, I will focus on making this happen 😊 |
FP3 was full on dry track with three fallers on the time attack bringing out three yellow flags at one time ( this rule should go away IMHO).
Aleix was one of the fallers but still managed too push out Quartararo for first place by .041 seconds. Quartararo did have a lap .002 sec. under Aleix but that lap was scratched due to a yellow flag. Maverick finally showed he could fight with the big boys and finished third but was pushed down to seventh because of one of the three yellow flags. Rins following up in fourth but moved to third because of Maverick’s beat down. . You meet some of the best folks behind bars. |
The MotoE race was a squeaker to the very end. Worth watching but With commentary turned off if you want to avoid what sounds like a very young Jonathan Green with his balls in a vice 😳

Quartararo finally showed he is human.
Vinales finally gets a podium. Bagnia shows he can finish a race. Great job by Aleix to finish 4th after being knocked out by Quartararo. He also showed great sportsmanship when Quartararo came to apologize and he showed great teamenship to his team mate Vinales. . You meet some of the best folks behind bars. |
Quartararo gets a long lap penalty for the British race for being overly aggressive and taking out Aleix.
http://https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/1006725/1/fabio-quartararo-stupid-mistake-then-traction-control-failure His traction control failure caused this one. ![]() . You meet some of the best folks behind bars. |

Did Quartararo go back out because there might have been a switch to rains? A way to close the gap to the front?

Nope. Quartararo crashed into Aleix, got back up and then the 2nd crash on slicks in that photo above.

I was wondering why Quartararo returned to the track after the long consult in the pits post-punting Aleix.
It seemed, literally, pointless. Unless a rain strategy was considered.

Aahhh,, I see. I thinking you are correct. Good strategy, if you’re good in the wet.
A lot of fantasy owners kickin Quartararo to the curb. https://www.motogp.com/en/news/2022/06/30/quartararo-s-16-749-owners-left-disappointed-in-assen/428860 No loyalty in the fantasy either. . You meet some of the best folks behind bars. |

i saw a similar happenstance at deals gap. almost at the state line. i was hanging out waiting for zonhonker on the right hand side of the road just down from the tree of shame. now when one leaves the tree of shame area , its a down hill and a quick curve. this dude on a dualpurpose bike came down way too fast and couldn't make the curve. he hit the side of the road and come up over the bars. actually still hanging on to the bars , came up feet straight up in the air , and then flew summersault landing in a perfect head plant , landing off the road. i thought the guy had to have broken his neck. nope. his pal showed up , he got up, and they picked up the bike and they took off. i still cant believe i saw this happen. 20 years later and i am still laughing. |
