BMW Issues "Stop Sales" in North America

BMW has noticed an issue with the materials in the evaporative system and has halted all sales of new and used dyno fueled bikes. The only new BMW available now is the E-scooter.

Must be a ploy to sell those damned scooters. While by all reports they work fine, they look weird, have modest range and storage, and cost upwards of 15k MSRP (although discounts may be found)

Did they confirm the cats were the issue? I sure hope that's not final, because, damn, the sheer expense of replacement will be one hell of a bundle 😳

Not to mention it will be very awkward when the 4-cyl S1000RR and R models and related M series get called in for a cat switch and the original cats are nowhere to be found 😉

Yep. Something about the materials used were not correct in the cats. Of course E bikes are excluded .
Remember the trouble VW had with emmision  fines.
So what bmw is doing is voluntary .
Whst I don’t get is ALL used bike sales stopped?
Pre cat bikes  should be exempt.

I still can’t find anything that states it’s the cats. BMW hasn’t quite said what part it is. Just something to do with emissions.
If it is the cat I’m sure the folks that haven’t kept the stock exhaust won’t care or bother but it may effect them at trade in a sale time if they don’t.

We shall see.

well i just told you .
its a voluntary recall having to do with the cat convertors not having been manufactured with the proper materials. thats what the word out there is.

Thanks Keith. I was hoping to find something from BMW telling us the issue kind of like we see with an HD recall that typically explains exactly what the issue is.

Dealers may resume the sale of all new and pre-owned BMW Motorcycles as of Friday September 29th."]
