Cool fb story

This post was updated on .
Facebook will have click bait posts featuring old motorcycles.
Usually it will have a wrong year or something off to get you to respond.
Last week I see a post about a 1971 Triunph T120RV.
I looked at the comments and someone posted a picture of an original paint gas tank for a '71 Bonneville. He asked if anyone was interested. He said he has had it for a long time and doesn't need it.
I responded that I had the perfect bike for that tank and I was very interested.
He asked for my address. He messaged me back that shipping was 143.00 from Michigan to me. He said he would take PayPal for the shipping. I sent 160. That was Friday.
It's wednesday and FX showed up with the tank.
It's complete cap, taps, badges, and trim, with mostly intact paint. I'm blown away.

Bummer.

I think you can put in a claim with pp.
Dispute the description, within 30 days.
I believe they will just take it out of his bank account
if they agree with you.

Returning it, who’s gonna pay for that, is another whole thing.

Internet buying, it’s a crap shoot for sure.

Ooops, I must have written that wrong.
The guy gave me the tank for the cost of shipping.
I'm happy!

Great deal,Walt. $160 for a straight original tank is sweet.
I've dealt with a few guys on FB and it turns out well. I have found that the scammers are the ones that won't us PayPal Goods and Services.
Scammers will only use Friends & Family. I'll offer to pay the extra charges plus to cover Goods & Services so that they have to send an invoice. This way if it's a scammer I can get my money back if I never see the part.

It's amazing how man scammers there are on some of the harley specifc pages. They have a fake profile that looks legit with fake company names and reviews. Seems like a lot of work just to snag a couple hundred bucks but if thats all you do all day you earn enough to live off of.
What steams me is FB won't remove them after being reported.

I've been lucky and only snagged for $80. I've saved a lot more than that from buying from good folks that are just clearing shelves or moving something along that they don't need.

You meet some of the best folks behind bars.
