Back from Spring Break and the first of the triple header is Mugello.

Day one ended with Bagnaia P1. But with the rain forecast for Saturday it may be best to work through Q1 into Q2.

It was another great race with Bagnia showing he can keep it off the floor.
Marquez proved he can’t. Both of them. Not a reason to celebrate in the Marquez family.
It was basically a Ducati Ducati race.

I here rumors of Honda and Yamaha considering backing out of MOTOGP due to the cost of aerodynamics.
Today we saw what that would look like.

I didn't stick with the stream to see DJing.
Just the BBQ.

The Sprint was a sharp battle.

Alex Marquez's cannonball pass into the first corner (San Donato) was worth the price of the race.

I gotta a bad feeling about the old dogs hanging on to the series.

If one is looking at cost factors, add in the seamless transmissions. Roadracing World (April 2023) had a story last month on the secret bastards that were quoted as 'costing as much as a house' (HRC Nakamoto) when they were debuted 10 years ago. Rumored to be $305,500.

From Gigi Dall’Igna at The Court of Appeals back in 2019 when Honda, Suzuki, Aprilia and KTM were crying about the Duc's fairings.
“We spend for the lawyers and everything for the Court of Appeal, the equivalent to five days in the wind tunnel. In 2018, we develop our fairing of our MotoGP bike with 10 days in the wind tunnel.

“Fifty percent of the aerodynamics wind tunnel budget is gone only for the Court of Appeal."


According to OEM Off Highway the cost to rent a tunnel is $2k-$3k per hour and sessions can last 24 hours.
That equals out to an average of $60,000.00 per day so the Duc's could have spent $600,000.00 to develop the fairing.
Now I can understand manufacturers wanting to back out.
With Duc having 8 bikes on the track and more and more crashes per race they have to dominate. I don't think they can't. But do we want to see a Ducati Series.
I have to wonder how Aprilia can still get in the game and be competitive.
