So Brake Free has come out with an LED "brake light" that you can stick to your helmet. It doesn't operate by way of your front or rear brake operation, rather it lights up when it detects deceleration.

Because it comes on independent of any brake operation it doesn't intuitively tell the observer that it is actually a brake light, it's only when it happens to come on at the same time as the rear brake light that it becomes obvious what it is. And when that does happen, I think it's a good thing.
It seems a little bulky for such a modern device, and maybe it should be a little more sophisticated than just a peel-and-stick application? At $160 bucks it seems a little pricey for an LED light with what is basically an electronic version of a mercury switch.
So, a good idea, but really needs to be a bluetooth device that pairs with your rear brake light switches/electrical circuitry, that way it would come on simultaneously with the brake light and be the "third" brake light it is supposed to be.
