Looking to Trade

A couple weeks a go I put a ad on Marketplace looking to trade my 1923 T-Bucket for another toy of some sort. I was looking for something that I could use in more seasons than just motorcycle season. If it was nice enough to take the Bucket it was also good enough for a bike and I'm a bike guy so the Bucket sat a lot.

Of course I'd get those "What's you bottom dollar?" messages from goofballs who don't actually read the add stating I'm looking for a trade but I was surprised that among all the offers of boats, UTV's and such that there was a lot of bikes offered up. A couple were Goldwing trikes but mostly it was dressers from guys that "just don't ride it anymore."

These guys have bikes that they have probably paid $25,000.00 or so for ten years ago and they are now just sitting in there garages waiting to be traded off for a toy that their aging knees can handle.
Just evidence of the situation of motorcycling I guess.

I wonder if they would just try something smaller and lighter if they would still take time out to ride or was it all just a fad?

I think it would graph out as a scattershot of data in an XY cartesian plane with people starting out in one area and sliding into the another over time. Maybe it needs to be in an XYZ graph. We need to go over to Marketing; they have all the answers.

I agree with you .
Lots of dressers out there sitting.
I can’t say why the bought them some guys just wanted the experience. Like you did with the t bucket.
My knees are a problem . I do think a DP bike is in my future if I find one not to tall. Maybe. 250.

You may have to be more specific trade wise

Ironically a couple days after I posted that I ended up in the ER with an infection in my left knee out of no where. I didn’t bang it or fall on it. They pulled 40cc fluid off and now I’m braced up walking with crutches and missing some of the best riding of the year.

The TW200 should be a good DR I would think.

Interesting machine.
I won’t pay Yamahas 4.9% that they are making sound like an incentive to buy.
I could pay cash but I don’t want to use that much savings on a bike like this.
We will see.

My risky business consists of trying to get up the two steps to the house and sitting on the toilet after knee surgery.

I feels ya Kirk.

What really messed me up was that Johnson and Johnson Covid vaccine.  I took 2 shots of it, 6 months apart, both times I had side effects. Effing right knee, had it drained twice.  First time he took 2 horse sized syringes of yellow fluid.  2nd time filled one.  A shot of steroids right under the kneecap each time. Back working in 3 days each time.

He’s talking replacing the knee if it keeps swelling up now and then.
And that the stuff he pulled out looked like gout.
Told him WTF?  I’ve never had gout.  Didn’t know what is was.

I seem to have it under control with diet change.
I’m almost a vegetarian at this point.
No red meats, no Coke’s, no beer, no shellfish,

I tell ya, getting old ain’t for p$@@:es.

My Grandma used to have a shirt that said basically the same thing except used the word sissies.

I had that yellow fluid drained out at the urgent care on a Saturday the 22nd and had the knee X-rayed which showed nothing.
The fluid didn’t have the crystals in it that indicates gout so I thought I was out of the woods but had an orthopedic appointment set up on Halloween.
By the time that appointment date came I struggled using crutches to get around and the knee was the size of a grapefruit. At the ortho appointment they drained the knee again. Still no gout but the fluid was a much darker yellow. Went into surgery 11:00 pm.
Doc said it was one of the worst staph infections in the knee he had seen.
I was in the hospital eight days and didn’t receive my trophy.

It’s weird how the body works. Here you are getting the vaccine to protect yourself and others and you are on your way to a knee replacement.

I’m back at it.
Taking the day off and doing absolutely nothing.
Whatever I feel like at the moment.
Might take my bike out.
Maybe go down to the hardware store and just hang out.
It’s a beautiful day and I’m grabbing it.
