Awesome to see Aprilia on the podium. I wanted Miller to take that third for Team Doublefat but seeing Aliex taking an Aprilia to it's first ever podium in Motogp doesn't upset me at all. Great!
Quartararo was just spot on. Very smooth and calculated take over around Pol and the rest of the race. He is now 65 points ahead and heading for his first Motogp championship. Rins pulling Zuk from the #10 spot to a 2nd place podium showing that Suzuki is still laying in the game had to make Shinichi smile. Miller getting a 2nd wind and almost to the podium. I can't help but think that he saw that Aleix was either going to get that podium or take them both out and Miller figured 4th was better than a DNF. "Ya here that Marc?" Really!? A DNF? I have to wonder. Will he get back on top? Will his flame be bright again? I figured Pol would fad out. Good to see he didn't fad way out. Honda still close to the front and Pol has his best finish of the year. Good job. And what about the KTM guys? Pulling up 6th and 7th. Binder coming from 12th and Lecuona coming all the way back from 18th. Nice work. Notice that there are six different manufacturers taking the first top six places. First time this has happened in Motogp since 1972 at the Yugoslavian race 6 where MV August, Yamaha, Konig,(?) Suzuki, Husqvarna, and Kawasaki were the top six manufacturers. Yamaha and Suzuki should be proud that they are in this history mark. . You meet some of the best folks behind bars. |

Quart Puts The Boot In
With gloved hands, Fabio Quartararo calmly choked the life out of the MotoGP championship Sunday at Silverstone in front of 60,000 witnesses. The 22-year-old Frenchman wielded his Yamaha M1 like an aluminum jackhammer, demolishing the hopes of his rivals like the concrete floor of a urine-stained paddock restroom, in a dominant win from a front row start. In a French victory unrivaled since William the Bastard arrowed King Harold right in the eye in 1066, Quartararo seriously damaged the title hopes of Mir, Zarco and Bagnaia when all three sagged out of podium contention on-by-one as the 20 lap race wound to its high-speed conclusion under cloudy skies in the heart of England. Where other riders struggled with grip both early and late on the flat and twisty WWII airfield circuit, the smiley and seemingly pleasant young man from the Continent had no issues with control and speed as he hit the front for good on lap five in his fifth win of the 2021 season. The magnanimous victor graciously rode his slick-shod motorcycle off the track through the grass after the race, waving to the cheering peasants in the packed grandstands "It's great to actually see my new subjects and share the victory with them," he said. "I can take more risks now, what I want to do is fight for victories. With a 65-point lead I don't need to think about the championship, and I plan on ruling as your benevolent dictator, as long as you all don't get out of line." .

Amazing performance by Quartararo.
Sadly for my League points, Marquez took that chance to get by Martin and it went all wrong. So then my hopes were with Pol, who did put up a really good fight. Mir was looking good, but faded towards the end. Sad to see Rossi not able to compete at these levels, but age eclipses resolve. . |

Ran across this museum Wellington video. The cutaway sections really show how strong the airframe must have been. . |
