I wonder if spectators are going to be available?

I looked around a bit. Nothing is written in stone. Even the events. Dorna seems to be saying they will try their best, to run the schedule as posted. And have spectators at the events. But, they have a big disclaimer it seems, deferring most of what they do to local government, at that event. In reality, it looks to me like it's another season until stuff gets back to normal. I mean, around my area, the Covid thing is still growing in numbers. High school sports, stick and ball stuff, each county is rated each week. Any county rated too high in infections, no sports that week. I took it that is what Dorna is gonna do. If that stuff is raging in a certain area, they ain't gonna go, or let spectators in at least. Hey, at least they have a vaccine going. I'm supposed to be able to get it in 2 weeks. And probably will. But, seems half the people I talk to say they ain't taking it. |
I agree on the spectating angle. Maybe the Europeans will get their act together in time. Assen and later?
With the slow roll out of the vaccine, my take is the Old Life is not coming back in a full way for a while. I've been telling my geographically distant people that I will definitely see them in 2022, which disturbs them. Everyone seems to think we will be footloose by this Spring, but for me it's going to take us getting through a winter without an endemic covid surge before I relax. I get this feeling I will be a late add on the vaccine list; old enough to be seriously concerned about surviving a large inoculum infection, but young enough to be overlooked, while living a largely secluded life. I'm not frontline to anything. And as for 'Next Season,' Superbikeplanet.com moved a story saying Marquez is still on the antibiotic drip.

Ya, the Márquez thing. Yikes. I read about the antibiotic drip thing also. Something about he's been on one all winter. And that he just had a medical review, saying it came back as "standard". WTF is "standard"? |
An example of Einsteinian relativity. I'm going out for a standard ride. Marquez going out for a standard ride.

Off Crash.net.... Repsol Honda has released a brief statement after Marc Marquez underwent a 'satisfactory' medical check-up on his fractured right arm. 'Today Marc Márquez has gone to the Hospital Ruber Internacional for a medical check-up. The eight-time world champion has visited six weeks after the surgery performed on December 3 for an infected pseudarthrosis of the right humerus. 'A satisfactory clinical and radiographic evolution has been confirmed for the time of evaluation. Marquez will continue with the specific antibiotic treatment and with a functional recovery programme adapted to his clinical situation.' Marquez first required surgery after breaking his arm at the end of a stunning comeback in the season-opening Jerez race, then a second operation when the titanium plate broke due to stress accumulated during an attempted return to action the following weekend. But the bone failed to heal after the second operation, a condition medically described as pseudarthrosis, requiring a third operation and bone graft last December. Tests during the operation also revealed a previous infection, the cause of his pseudarthrosis, requiring lengthy antibiotic treatment which the Repsol Honda statement makes clear is still ongoing. |

He sure is taking a long time to heal up. Seems odd for such a young fit male.
Last year was a good year to be down but I think 2021 will be a more productive race season. Not looking good for guy. I’m curious has to how this will affect his racing style. He was always on the edge, pushing the limit but I wonder if he will stay away from that edge a little bit more knowing that he is not invincible anymore. It was a much more interesting season without him last year just because there was more winners but his near crash saves were always an amazing thing to watch. . Ya, bummer for sure.
I saw somewhere the other day he might need a 4th operation if stuff don't start getting better. If so, that's no MM for this season at least. I mean, guys are getting ready. Kinda reminds me of Honda's top guy in Motocross here in the States. #94 Ken Roczen. Terrible, terrible arm, elbow hand wrist injury. Could have lost an arm. 6 or 8 operations. A year in rehab and came back as soon as the docs said he could. He just did not have it. Was a top 6 or 7 at best. And he's Reds top gun. Finally, after almost blowing it again with another injury a few times, he just took a season off. Ate good food, his wife had a kid, let his head clear, and his body heal up completely. 3 races in this year, he's back like it never happened. Imo, that's MM, and what he's up against. On another note........Dovi apparently has his manager putting it out there. That he's been riding Motocross, seriously, and is in tip top shape. And isn't taking offers to test or anything, that he's ready, and available, to ride Motogp this year. And Honda, crickets.......... |

Maybe we might see Dovi on the Honda this year??!

Hmmm, that would be interesting! . |

I think I saw where Dovi rode for Honda before, and it was mentioned it did not end real well. And Honda brass might not like the mudslinging Dovi has been throwing at Ducati and what’s his name, the manager. And that they think Pol will do good. There are issues, apparently. Marquez, word has it the next 2 or 3 weeks is crunch time, as far as healing goes, for his status this year as a rider. I got a feeling, we won’t see 93 on a bike, till this time next year. |
Dovi to Honda was my first thought, too.
I hedged on my own perception that Honda would not want to disrespect MM by throwing a solid rival onto the 93 bike. I get this feeling Honda will put a B-rider in the saddle and eat the year out of deference to their eight-time champion's medical plight. But, people want to win, and Honda is run by people. .
