This Montessa has Grado written all over it.

That’s a 69 to 73.
It has an Enduro rear fender on it.
I think the front end has been swapped.
The frame, I only remember the 69 Cappras being white.
Look at the swingarm bolt.  Painted over.
Hard to tell, like a lot of Euro stuff from back then, what it is exactly.  Even with the vin off the frame.
Montesa, Bultaco, some times the vins just show model.
Not date.
Especially Bultaco.
Somebody wrote a book on how to identify them.
And it still ain’t easy!

Bultaco didn't make mototcycles as model years.
The motorcycles were made as a series. When they made significant changes to a model they gave it a new model number.
Some models went a few years before a change.

It won’t matter unless it’s being registered .
Were there ever bultaco street bikes?

I think someone might be bringing the name back.

The Metralla is probably the most for street they made.
I’m not sure.
A friend of mine here in WV has one.
250cc, 2 stroke.
It was the basic bike they started out with when they went road racing.

How can they be titled with no model year?

That’s a good question.
Date of bill of sale? Maybe?
Slide $100 along with what paper you have across the counter to the girl at the DMV?

I have a few Bultaco's with titles.
I'm not sure where the year came from.
This is from a factory service manual.

I liked them husky’s myself. Being a svede. Lol.
Now they are just fugly Chinese-Austrian junk imho.
These old euro dirt bikes existed in golden era . I will include Ducati enduros in that as well.
The Japanese may have targeted American sales with dumping their products on us with Japan itself picking up their OEM  losses, though Harley managed to survive , they did manage to kill off the euro dirt bike makers.
I myself bought Japanese dual purpose bikes.
Little did I know at the time what was happening.
Of course the Brit’s got hammered as well.
So much for diversity , eh?
Just goes to show , true diversity comes from everybody doing their own thing . Companies building and marketing what they want.
