Idunno. That looks like AI to me.

Thing is they still run Isle of Man.
And kill 2 or 3 people every year.

Nobody is forcing anyone to enter.

In your mind.  Thing is each generation clings to those champions that did it in their generation.

Can anyone here name Harley’s first factory racing team?
Let alone the guys that were on it?
And which one walked away from it rather than ride against privateers, aka class c guys?

Thing is, TT racing is much more fatal to riders than most any other venue.  It’s like boardtrack back in the 20s.

So many were getting killed they just stopped it.
Kinda like IOMM.

I just don’t see the logic.
Ban motogp, which might lose 1 or 2 a decade.
But admire TT that kills 2 or 3 a year. And in TT it’s not just the riders at risk. Spectators are at risk in TT also.

Funny, well not really, those 2 guys in the clip probably lived.  Air walls, runoff areas, ya they probably lived to ride another day.

Unlike Michael’s dad Joey, killed at speed when a spectator walked out in front of him at some crappy little TT in Tallin Estonia.

What is it guy?
Why embrace one but not the other?

And yeah. That’s Effin AI.
Look at the helmets when the hit the ground/gravel trap.
No gravel or dirt flies up, anywhere.
The asshole AI guy was too lazy to program that detail in.

Effin AI.  Geeks trying to be cool.

Today’s riders are geeks trying to be cool . Their bikes, much of the riding as been engineered out of them .

Hailwood is likely before my generation . It’s close. But people today I believe heard of him.

I am sorry that you  never have heard of Joe Petrali
Or Erwin Baker , much less Jay Springsteen .
All before your time.
Bud Eakins as well.
Now I never said board tracks were safe. Harley even pulled out of it I believe.
The powers that be also stopped class A racing. Likely the best class of racing ever.
Hell Burt Monroe was before my time. So was the Indian wrecking crew . What about Ago? He was before your time. Ed Kretz ? You are a dirt donk, no ? And you never heard of Bob Hannah . Before your generation .
Ten to 20 years from now who will know the name of bagger racers? Even super bike riders of today.
None of the folks I mention had anything to do with super intelligence. Or AI as you call it. They didn’t all wear day glow klown suits either.

Embrace what?
Idk WSB from motoGP from anything.
Too over engineered and sold out to tire companies and whatever else. May as well be set up on an Aurora track with remote controllers. Aurora is before your time too I imagine. But that’s appears to be on its way.
More off the  cuff action in county fair pig races than moto GP.

We are from about the same era.

Well past the likes of Cannonball.

WTH an Aurora track is I have no idea.

You can’t mention Springsteen without Lawill.
If you knew of Hannah you knew of DeCoster.
Or Read and Robert’s.
Or Sammy Miller for that matter.

As far as the riders of today vs yesterday, that
argument will never be settled.

I believe, Champions are just born with it.
Mostly.
Could a Carrol Reswerber or Joe Lenord kick ass on today’s
mile?  I believe so.
Same with a Jeff Smith or Torsten Hellman.
I believe they could hang with today’s motocrosser.

But I do agree, road racing wise, mostly after the 500cc 2 strokes went away, and the traction control stuff came to being, a different kind of rider might do a bit better than days gone by.

Only one guy really made that transition, in real time.
To go from total throttle control, to just grabbing a handful
and trusting a computer.

Valentino  Rossi, World Champion, is the only guy that did it.

And his gear was mostly dayglo yellow.

I still don’t get why you say ban this form of racing,
but feel another should continue.

You are not from my era. That or you had a deprived childhood.
But anyway naming all those guys proved my point. Rossi maybe an exception however it again  proves older names will be remembered while recent ones become
Ai memes at

You had a 69 or 70 Mach 3 in your early 20s.
I had a 71 blue one in my late teens.

Same era.

Different tribes?  For sure.

You don’t know what an aurora track is.
You can’t be from my era. You read moto history fine . Nobody can be blamed for when they were born .

Oh, I don’t recall saying any form of racing should not continue. I just wondered what racing exotic shit that has people crashing onto walls and has no relevance to dealer showrooms isn’t banned?

Except bagger racing ! That is idiotic crap!

You survived an H1 . God is with you.

And of course Dick Mann!
Remember when cycle world edited out mentioning his name for being Dick ? Thst was an early shot over the bow warning on Big Brother control of media. Unfortunately that’s not a government thing as much as media outlets like CNN etc.

lol.  You are right on one thing.
I shudder to think of 4, maybe 5 times God was with me on that 3 cylinder 2 stroke.

And Dick Mann.

Agreed, he could probably run today’s wizard bikes.
But even he had a lot of old school grit that made him a great one.

I met him once, hung out at a vintage motocross for a few minutes.
His problem in today’s world, and this is pure speculation on my part, was his “let’s not f8;k around, bring it on.”

I don’t know if he would put up with a dashboard telling him his tire pressures were getting too high, slow down, or he rubbed plastic in that last corner and had to do a stop and go.

On the other hand, he built the Yankee, rode all kinds of bikes, was a great frame builder, played the corporate thing for a bit.
Maybe he could adapt.

We will never know.

So tell me Keith, what’s an Aurora track?

They have a steering wheel. Don’t know that they are hard on the thumbs . Maybe they  were . But that was mainly drag racing . The 32 scale  cars.
Aurora was the big producer of the HO scaled tracks. Tyco made a few but they weren’t swappable
I don’t think the new ones are interchangeable either
