Whispering Death the Secret of the Expansion Chamber

The Suzuki RG500 was the street version of Suzuki’s MOTOGP 500cc two stroke. The only difference was the exhaust to pass noice ordinance and the fasteners were made of aluminum instead of titanium to bring costs down.
It got its name because by the time you heard the pinging of gas pre ignition it was too late and the piston would weld itself to the cylinders. It was only produced during 1985-1987.

During my learnings of the bike I came across a video from Fort9 on it and discovered that the 2stroke expansion chamber came from Nazi technology. Walter Kadeen engineered the chamber to attach to bombs that could fly themselves to Britain.

After the war Kadeen was asked to work with NASA on their rocket program but he refused. After a short prison sentence he was dropped of at commy Germany where he went to work at MZ and used the expansion chamber tech on 2stroke 125’s.

MZ’s racer, Ernest Degner, defected over to Japan taking a suitcase with the chambers in it to Suzuki and they started using the technology.

There is a Superbikeplanet story about RG500s that comes around now and again.
Next time I see it I’ll paste it over.

Had chambers on my H-1. Man did they howl!
Before the mini mansions went in , the neighborhood gang used to hang at the top of a hill at the end of the pavement. It’s been said I could be heard coming from many miles away . Not to mention coming up that hill in a lower gear. LMFAO!
Man did I have huge fun EVERY DAY!
And I wonder why old age is so fucking boring. 😟

Man. I dunno. I can say I truly miss that bike. Or do I truly miss the guy I was riding it?

Probably both but I’m sure the man the most.

Unfortunately we’re not all Peter Pan.

Getting old is both a blessing and a curse.
Blessed to get there with the memories & wisdom that came in route but cursed with the pain from getting there.
The pain is worth it.

Who wants to die in a well preserved body. Not I. I want to use as much of it as I can.

I disagree ,
Nothing worse than slowly losing  it.
Memories are great but they can at the same time frustrate you. Look, I am long past going out on top. But it sucks to live in the shadow of what one once was.
So I will adapt and keep trying right up to the day I pack it in. Not bcuz I am used up . I F I can at all help it.
