I was killing Grado’s thread so I started this one
Sorry grado!

Pics of sportys I like.

Idk why I like yellow. Looks good on sportsters

I actually like the plain alum mag over much else.
Just much simple and solid looking.

These are 2001.
But again I prefer the uncomplicated look of plain mags

Let’s start at the beginning of the “Real Steel” frames.
A guy on CW had a 85 xlx. I always liked it . I would consider one if I came across a nice one.

Boy is that red one sharp!

Front fenders had options.
I think these frames actually started with 1983 models.

Yikes trying to find an image of an unmolested 86 883
Is looking impossible . At least in a format this pia forum will allow .

The pic above has the wrong pipes (no cross over)
And an crappy backrest pillion thing/wrong seat .
The important  thing is the tank is the same graphic as the earlier one but replaces the xlx with 883 under Harley-Davidson
You can’t see it in this photo . Believe me it’s there. lol

That color came out in 01. It was called Gold Nugget Yellow. When I bought my 01 Sporty there wasn't any available in that color at the time and since I had been bikeless for six months I didn't want to wait and went with the basic black.

I agree with you on the wheels. They just look right on the Sporty's.
In the late 80's when I was in search for my first Harley I would only except spokes no matter the bike. mag wheels eventually grew on me now they are my preferred wheel. Less maintenance.
You couldn't tell by my currant stable, out of 8 bikes only 2 has mags. The lil' Kaw and the Low Rider ST.

.
You meet some of the best folks behind bars.

I could well tolerate owning an XLX right now.

One of the magazines had an article on it (early/mid-‘80s).
All black. Rider in a Simpson Bandit (maybe).

Still stuck in my mind.
Choose to Ride. Supports splitting everywhere.
