Well Harley is bumping up the HP
in those lowrider baggers. I have no idea why. But that’s not the actual reason I am posting . After years of shit woke colors on new Harley’s , check out this red! Well as usual this forum won’t link the picture from my album 🤬 why even bother!

Man that is RED! Of course HD had to include a black filler cap and a cheap plastic looking center strip . If the price of a new lowrider isn’t obscene enuff for one, welcome to another thousand $ worth of Genuine Accessories . Nothing against people with money. I wish I had some. But these buyers need to stand up and refuse to be pawns in this marking scheme! I would demand free chrome. Or buy an Indian or BMW R12

What the original low rider was , a personal hot rod of sorts . I hate to use the BS term cruiser . But for a better current description that’s what it was. HD has lost its own heritage. Unless they can market it for thousands more in a special nostalgia model. BMW gets it. And for thousands less. See above link , I hope!

This place needs upgrade for sure. I’ve looked around. It’s just so fucking confusing, it’s hard not to get sucked into spending a ton of money, I don’t write script, data (read pics), takes a ton of storage, they all talk in computer language which quite frankly, have no interest in. |
Agreed . Too complicated

I just saw on the NYSE that HOG has reported a 52 week low with $28.40 per share.
In April 2014 the shares were almost double at $57.60. Big drop. 1990 would of been the best time to buy at 50 cents per share. Yes, they are stronger than they were 35 years ago but do how long. The new sportster doesn’t have neater the blank slate customization ability as the Evo sportsters do so that will effect sales of new entry level bikes IMO. With their current entry level bikes starting out at $11,000.00 it’s a tough sell for the younger generation. I hate to say this but maybe it’s time to bring in the India made 440x at $5-$6k to get them to get new riders in to the fold. If HD were to commit to only selling that one bike as imported I would think that it would help sell the union made lines when the starter bike was not enough and that college loans are paid off or they or a journeyman. But what do I know? I’m just a glass guy. . You meet some of the best folks behind bars. |
Why are u so big on that crappy 440x?
People whom buy that thing aren’t going to step up to road kings. It’s a learner’s bike. Nothing about it does nothing for HD legacy . Buell blast didn’t go over well . XS (or whstever it was) 750 and 500 didn’t go over well . Do they need something ? Yes. Something to get the Harley mystique back . Your suggestion would be putting nails in HD coffin. The new sportster sucks . On that we can agree. Thst Harley seems to be hurting , agreed again Do they need a bike the company could use to capture youngsters into the yes. And they have it in the regular old sporty . Get rid of 40$ tshirts. Clear out the boutique and start creating larger service areas. Catering to guys like you with play money isn’t enuff. Start fixing and customizing and restoring old Harley’s. The bikes that brought them their fame and fortune. There are thousands of sportsters out there. Reclaim them bmw does it Bring back the Sprint. Honda has don’t it with the DAX and others. Get rid of the woke euro ceo and screw the new world snobbery Use their old advertising .re think priorities.make American riders great again As far as I am concerned, a life long Harley rider , Harley sux. I would buy a genuine Indian RE before I bought any Indian fake Harley

I also think that the one bike that coukd be deemed entry level , the softail standard, has been dropped. Thst bike was bare bones and reasonably priced.
That would have been the bike to get since fat 2, you are dismantling and replacing all tgst stuff on tge bike you bought. Just add the saddlebags. Which it appears too many buyers did. And perhaps buyers were going aftermarket for much of it so hd was losing . So the standard seems to be gone. So instead of reaching further out to the crowd in that respect , they put even more space between the elite and tge common man. I haven’t read the standard was cancelled but the model didn’t show in an hd release as of late. Let’s hope it’s not true.

I just received a pamphlet with the 25 HD’s. No softail standard shown. I think the street bob will be the cheapest Softail at $18k.
Yesterday I had an hour to kill between meetings and stopped by a dealer just fora peek see. Good news, colors and chrome are back on a lot of bikes that used to be drab colors and black. The CVO ST’s still have a lot of black. This one will run ya $60k. ![]() . You meet some of the best folks behind bars. |
18k? Plus whatever is going to be 20 easy .
Now I expect that if somebody really wanted to play the game , had a good job , or has a Very understanding significant squeeze , that bike is obtainable. But I restate my thought that HD has writen off regular people . Thst cvo is ugly.only folks whom can it that are extremely successful bizz owners, corporate lawyers , brain surgeons whom have finally paid off millions in student loans and lotto winners can afford it. Oh and perhaps pro sportsmen and rockstars . Not me. Not at all the Harley die hards, the tradesmen , the common men, that kept them in bizz all these years. Not that the bikes aren’t nice . But they aren’t me. Augusta got bought from ktm very recently. I am reminded how HD has been passing along their loss on Augusta slowly but surely on to its HD customer base ever sincr they blew it with that brand themselves. Now it not just $, it’s the elitist snobbery . Fuck today’s Harley-Davidson . I held out a glimmer of hope when they killed the sportster But killing the softail standard finally kills it for me. That was the last “guy with a spanner “clean canvas they produced.

Oh in case anyone doesn’t get how I really feel …
I would waste my urine pissing on that 440! Who would have thought AMF would be vindicated after all these years. What goes around comes around.

Looks like Fat2 is right. I am reading Harley does plan of bringing small Chinese made bikes. May not be the 440
As they have a couple other Chinese options.

Huh? The 440’s have been made in India by Hero motorcycles.
What article is claiming a Chinese x440? Curious minds want to know. . You meet some of the best folks behind bars. |
Idk off hand. There was a big article on HD from one of the newsletters. You are usually up on this stuff . But there are 3 of these bikes. 2 made in China. X500
And an x250. China or India I don’t think it matters. Outside of import tariffs I think it will kill hd. Would you put Yugos on Mercedes show rooms? I might have posted this news on hacksawsgarage FB It was a very comprehensive article on current HD stuff. Financial , dead wire , new models , pan America etc etc

What? Just because the phrase inquiring minds want to know became the slogan from a piece of crap fake news tabloid coined the phrase nobody can say curious. They mean the same thing.
Why can’t you just answer the question. Probably would have taken less time than the malarkey bs you wrote. I’ve searched the web and can’t find a Chinese made x440 . You meet some of the best folks behind bars. |
Just heard this from a friend. I’ve met George once or twice. Good guy. Is it the mothership demanding too much from the, existing dealers? Is it the dealer himself just burned out? What the hell is it with the local zoning board denying the motorcycle themed diner because it doesn’t, conform? Is that what big brother wants? Big square box stores, all lined up on nice little rows, with the only thing different being the sign out front? Is that the future? https://triblive.com/local/valley-news-dispatch/gatto-harley-davidson-moving-from-tarentum-watersports-bike-sales-will-remain/ |

What malarkey is that? Inquiring minds want to know. If you are truly curious of mind, read the report i reposted on hacksaws garage fb group . Then you will at least know what my source is . And don’t let the cat drag you in.
