I think it needs more than the can of Sprayaway can offer but I'm looking forward to watching this one progress.
I'm probably gonna have to do crankshaft seals and a carb. cleaning, fresh tires, and that should do it.
Maybe two cans of Sprayaway.
But these bikes are 50 years old. Seat foam turns to dust, plastic shock bushings crumble, grease hardens, but that's ok. I deal with issues as they come up. I won't do a 4k resto on a 2k bike. I've had these old bikes since the 1980's. I got a few of them, some are complete and others are going to be cannibalized for parts as needed.
Hugh's Bultaco has almost every part available. Makes Bultacos usable. And they are simple two stroke piston ported engines with bullet proof transmissions. The clutches are all steel plates. Even I can work on them. ;).
As far as places to ride I bought this not quite 6 acre piece of woods way back in 1980. The land is rough and rocky, not good for anything but dirt bikes. New neighbor has a small piece too with kids the same age as ours. They ride also, the trails connect and it makes for a wild time out here.
We will ride at the Thomaston Dam. Army Corp. property. Dirt Bikes only no ATV's.
I also have access to the Meriden Motorcycle Club, about 50 acres of fun riding. I shovel manure at a few farms just so we can ride there once in a while.
I am Thankful for the motorcycle connection with these boys.
And thanks for the positive comments!
