T100 with Watsonian Sidecar

This post was updated on .
My kid bought a sidecar rig off Cycle Trader. It was located in North Carolina. The seller sent a walk around video and some pictures. It looked good, the price was right and the kid made the deal.
Walt (my Son), hired a Transport guy to haul the rig to CT.
Well the driver tried to load the rig on the car carrier by driving it up ramps up the side of the trailer because he had cars on the trailer that he didn't want to unload. And as I would expect the ramp squirted out from the motorcycle and the rig landed on the ground.
We had no idea how hard it landed and were very concerned about the what had happened.
The only obvious damage was a dinged exhaust pipe. The Triumph dealer found no frame damage. There was some small cracks in the fiberglass that would be fixed at a Corvette shop. That cost amounted to enough that Insurance called it total loss and cut Walt a check for the value of the motorcycle. Then sold it back to him for 1600 bucks.
We put the rig in a rented box truck and hauled it back to my shop. I set up some straight edges, checked out alingments, no issues. The cracks are very small, we are going to fill them with super glue to keep moisture out and call it good.
I've been cleaning the storage dust off of it and I am stunned by how nice this thing is. Too bad I'm surrounded by a glacier and the roads are covered in corrosive de-icer, otherwise I would road test this thing. I suspect there are no issues. Huge win!
There was a lot of help from Bob Wark from the Warkshop in Ohio. If you ever need sidecar help he's the man.

I hate to hear about the laziness of the hauler but sounds like it worked out in the long run. Not sure if you've heard of Haul Bikes but I've used them a couple times with no issues. They work with you when you have an odd drop off a
A great summer it shall be.
Your son is a good chip off the ol' block. Makes a pop proud.

We've got the metal eatin crap spread all over as well. It's good for getting to work but it hates motorcycles.
It's going to be near 70 degrees Christmas but no wind therapy for the 2Fat just yet. I'm keeping the Z125 mainly for small winter put arounds.
I hope you guys get to get out for a mid winters ride.

Not me. I do hope to ride again someday. My back injections lead me to be optimistic. But my knees still need work. The only registered bike I have is the /2 and that is currently mothballed.
I should get a small bike but full sized. I need to avoid that humping a football look

Anybody recall the PBS show 2 fat ladies that went around England being chefs? I don’t recall the brand of side car. The bike was a triumph legend I think. I believe a triple?  The real fat one died so that ended the show. But it was a cool rig. Even if the show was on the not politically correct side of things. I mean how does one avoid fat shaming while watching a person eat themselves to death?
Unique brit show in the era of Benny hill , monte python , the avengers. BBC sucks today

I’m curious, in your searches, what small bike that is full sized that doesn’t require a leg throw over?

I can only think of a step-through like the Burgman.

Hell of a question

I think the low rider is one.
But since it’s ruled out for other reasons I don’t remember actually It was great comfy ergos

Honda trail120 but maybe it’s a step thru ?
I am going to have to review from scratch. One of the RE but I forget which one.

Triumph America if thsts its name . Bike  like the bobber but full seat . That was last years I think they may have changed it this year

Actually my /2 with a Corbin is real good. I need wider bars though

The trail 125 maybe an option. It’s a slight step through but not a full on scooter.

Weighs 300#
4speed semi automatic. Good for arthritis in the hand, wrist, etc.
Only downside is it has a 50-55 top speed.
With a big bore kit I’ve read 62mph is capable.
There was a 2023 low mileage one on marketplace for $2k.
It went quick. $
There’s a 2020 Cub for $2,500 15 miles from me.
Most of the trails and cubs are typically priced 3,500-$5k.

The Triumph Speedmaster and Bobber both run around 27” height. When I was checking Triumphs I found the Speedmaster very comfortable and had thought about swapping for one for two up.

triumph america . 2026 are ruined. bigger tank, "modern side panels " and more electronic crap. fat broad seat bars suck too. i dont like the tanks size or graphics. the bobber has a bigger tank too. thats criminal!
i am sure mike corbin could make it even nicer. give me the "25 or earlier. corbin seating and floor boards and maybe a better american style bars
but i dont think i am in the market for something like that at the moment

The weather did break here in CT the other day. It rained really hard, (enough to wash the roads), and warmed up a bit so I road tested the Triumph/Watsonian. It went down the road just as I'd hoped.
No head shake, plenty of power, it stops pretty straight, all good.
Now the roads are covered in de-icer again, but... the snow and ice cleared out of the woods and our dirt bikes are filling in nicely!

Keep in mind the trail is 120 cc and maybe <5k new. So none of these 3500-5000 sellers are serious .
