Their direct competition was the blue Royal Automobile Club, either were a common site on British roads back in the day.

I believe both still exist today.

They were called "Avon Handlebar Fairings".

They attached to the handlebars via chrome brackets, and you moved your headlight from the motorcycle nacelle to the fairing.

They were made by several manufacturers but the Avon brand were of the best quality and were made of thick fiberglass. (and also the most expensive).
