That would be red on red.

White on Black is my Favorite.
But interested in Vintage white on Black, and, Orange on Black.

Well…..the white on black……we already did that. If you have one, I think only a dozen were made, hold on to it. That color scheme ain’t coming back. I’m leaning to the HD guys this time out. I know, me, Oldironnow and Mad4thecrest are a bit more sport bike guys, red or blue colors, orange or yellow mixed would be cool. But I’m leaning to black on orange. Fat2 was instrumental in getting this place going. And Hacksaw has been around. Maybe give the Vtwins Twins their due. I dunno. Dark blue on light blue, orange on red, just might have to wait till next year. |
Thanks for the thought Grady but in thinking about this,,, the last shirt was black. Maybe a different base color this year and back in black next year.
Just a thought. . You meet some of the best folks behind bars. |

Maybe a 'cycle' of the traditional factory colors?

In have it - a black shirt with Cyclevisor in red, curved around a central image of a red 1980's Nighthawk 650. On the back placed in an obscure place in red print so small you have to hunt to find it (and feel like a winner when you do), "Allred".

Man…..I was talking to a guy about an old Video of some GP roadracing about a week ago. It was the Kenny Sr. era, he was in a few events on the Yamaha. The talk turned to “who was on the 7 bike. Who was on the 16. Was that Kenny on “2?”. I started to say “I’ll find out, I know a guy that knows”. Then realized, I had to cut myself off, because, well, I didn’t. |

Some shots of a cool spot from Sunday’s ride at Hrand Tower.
Lewis and Clark stopped here November 25 1803 and all the way back in 1673 French explorer Pere Marquette stopped by to climb the 90 foot tall rock and planted a wooden cross to ward of the demons lurking in the treacherous whirlpool that is at the bottom where the River goes around the rock and meets back up with itself. ![]() ![]() Modeling the Cyclevisor shirt. ![]() Stolen from the WWW. ![]() . nice spot. i really would love to ride that gravel road on a DP machine.

A DP would of been a good one for it. The other two bikes were a KTM 1190 adventure bike and a v-strom.
I floated across gravel like riding on marbles. Worth it. . You meet some of the best folks behind bars. |
A forlorn image of a Tiger 800, immobile;
![]() Set off this morning on what I hoped would be an epic all-day ride only to be stranded by the side of the road not 30 minutes in. 😳 Seems when my local independent shop that I have used for my bikes (after off warranty) for 20 years replaced my chain and sprockets, they didn't torque the front sprocket nut properly, or something. On the freeway at 80(ish) I suddenly had no drive. Once trailered back to the shop and opened up - no nut or washer visible - gone baby gone 😳😳😳 ![]() I am sitting here back at home, still shuddering at the thought of how my day might have gone if the rear wheel had locked up or if I had been in an area without cell service when this happened. (Most of my rides are outside of cell service range, way up in the mountains). Parts for older Triumphs are sparse, so it looks like I might not get her back on the road for a week or so, maybe longer 🥺 Also wondering where did the nut go? If it got spit out at freeway speeds 😳😳😳 |
well....
glad u didn't have an accident. i dont understand that top case, that doesn't affect the handling? that and that muffler would just have to go. comments for another thread i suppose. chains. well i use them on some bikes. shit happens. glad u r ok.

Top case is an ugly boxy thing but looks more ungainly in photos than in the flesh. It's a Triumph top case keyed to the bike and it was essential gear when I was using the Tiger to commute. Carried my lunch and laptop without interfering with lane-splitting 😉
It does affect the handling slightly but not as much as you might expect - you just need to compensate for its weight, but only a little bit. At times I use to take it off for a short ride in the mountains but these days I just leave it on. It seems to work well as a 'cloaking device' that allows me to go faster without attracting LEO attention (learned through actual experience 😳) That exhaust is fairly standard ADV stuff. Yes, it's not pretty but it sounds decent and I don't think about it much anymore. |
that's fine. you ride harder than i do these days.

As hacksaw says - Glad you didn't eat it and all came out fine.
That's a good reminder to carry some stranded-water with me. How do the output shaft threads look? Not damaged? What has the shop said? How did you get off the side of the road?

The shop is waiting on a new nut and washer. Triumph model specific parts of course and not handy. I think they are intended to last a lifetime but that didn't help if the sand things fly off 🥺
I am lucky they found a set in San Diego or else I would be waiting on delivery from England (or Thailand). A couple of days to get the parts to the shop they think. I like the parts guy, but he's a total low-energy stoner who embodies "The Dude Abides" lifestyle. It could take a week. I didn't get a good look since they didn't remove the sprocket in front of me, so I don't know how badly the threads are affected. I will keep fingers crossed not too bad because I don't trust these guys to fix it if it were bad. And that means $$$ at an authorized dealer. When the sprocket came unglued I had just decided to take an earlier exit from the freeway so was already crossing over to the right lane to exit. I was moving at 80 so coasted down the off-ramp to the stoplight. Then pushed about twenty yards to a safe place to stop. I was lucky. If I had decided to keep going I may have stopped in a more precarious situation. If the sprocket failed 15-20 minutes late i would have been in the backroads with no cell reception, with a very long wait or walk in store. |
Shoulda been a flat washer with grooves to fit over shaft under the nut with a tab that can be bent up next to one side of the nut, to keep said nut from moving. If the new washer has the grooves cut into it so it slides on the countershaft, and there is enough of the washer to be bent up to lock the nut in place, and isn't, silly mechanic. |
