Well, imho, there is a huge difference between what I am calling a movie (wild one, ER, etc…)
And a documentary . Which of course is what OAS is.

The Academy (which sucks these days) has separate award for documentaries . I don’t think a documentary ever won best picture or perhaps even nominated for one.
So it always kind of irked me when I hear OAS referred to as the best moto movie of all time.

Personally I think Marlon and Lee actually created American the motorcycle culture which endures to this day.
Of course they got help along the way by the AMA (which also sucks) when they came up with the 1% jive .
Think about the size of the “cruiser” (I hate that segment name. It sucks) market over the last 40 years .
Norton High Rider anyone? Victory High Ball?
Anybody whom ever ran straight pipes on a sportster or 6 over tubes on their BSA or CB750 owes it all to Brando inc.

That’s not to say that OAS isn’t a great watch . I like it better now than I did years ago . It’s excellent .
But the best moto movie ever? I question that .

Ahhhhh…..everybody, every generation has their own best of.  Like the annual 100 best songs countdown of forever on the local radio station every last Sunday in December.

Different winner every year.

Marlon might have gotten top billing as The Wild One……
but Lee Marvin stole the show imo.

At 2:40 in the following vid (is that a KTM truck parked on the left?), there is a clip of a woman riding thru the countryside.  Black leather.  I was told it’s actually a guy, stunting as a girl in a movie.

Ya…..the KTM thing.   I thought all that was kinda vintage footage. Those guys riding past……must be some kind of “lost in the 50’s” club or something.

And, as a side note about sons and fathers, i see Carl Fogarty had a father - George - who as an amateur ran at the IOM, and also made two World Championship starts at Silverstone, 1977 and 1979.

Qualified 26th in 1977, DNF
Qualified 41st in 1979, finished 17th.

We’re it not for Oldiron’s racing interest and postings way back in the CW days I don’t think I would of ever had any interest in MOTOGP.
