I dunno.

There’s this clip, seen it a hundred times.
The opening scene of Then Came Bronson.

Yeah, I know it’s scripted dialogue, that came out of some guys head that probably didn’t ride.

And Parks really wanted to be on a Mach 3.

And they probably shot that scene 10 times.

But, be it as it may, it still, for a moment, takes my mind to a pretty cool place.

Of course you know the difference between a tv show back then and how we look at personnel remembrances our own self.
Idk that a Mach 3 was even in production back then but the idea that a kawi 2 stroke was going to make much of an impact on American youth is ludicrous. Even the sportster was a stretch as the touring  idea goes. But image is everything on tv and they did make it a kickstart bike. As it is it only lasted one season I believe. It’s now an icon in moto history . Likely since the sportster was as big a star as Parks in that show.

It’s the early 70s.

Jamie Vine gets her boyfriends band a shot a a recording contract.

Trying to fit in, they tone it down on the advice of lower management at the record label.

And then, Jamie takes control.

Off the HBO Series, Vinyl.

During the Viet Nam War, or Conflict, American and Viet Cong would get to know each other, mainly thru the radios each side used and monitored in combat.
Not knowing their real names, each side would give nick names to their adversaries.

If a guy was an exceptional fighter, or leader, sniper, whatever, he sometimes was targeted by a special squad, sent out by the enemy, with the sole purpose of killing him.

Hey, here comes the Rooster…….

Ain't found a way to kill me yet
Eyes burn with stinging sweat
Seems every path leads me to nowhere
Wife and kids household pet
Army green was no safe bet
The bullets scream to me from somewhere

Here they come to snuff the rooster
Yeah here come the rooster, yeah
You know he ain't gonna die
No, no, no, ya know he ain't gonna die

Here they come to snuff the rooster
Yeah here come the rooster, yeah
You know he ain't gonna die
No, no, no, ya know he ain't gonna die

Walkin' tall machine gun man
They spit on me in my home land
Gloria sent me pictures of my boy
Got my pills 'gainst mosquito death
My buddy's breathin' his dyin' breath
Oh God please won't you help me make it through

Here they come to snuff the rooster
Yeah here come the rooster, yeah
You know he ain't gonna die
No, no, no ya know he ain't gonna die

And how many members of Alice In Chains listened to Viet Cong radio during the Vietnam War?
Stolen valor.
I was born in 1952 so this is like if I doing music about the Korean “conflict”

Robin Williams did it right.

I wouldn’t call it stolen valor.
Or a tribute.

Maybe a glimpse into a very turbulent time.

NERDS!

That actually would be pre era.
Borderline anyway. The music arguably is post punk DC5 mid 60’s retro shit.
Vietnam didn’t realy hit mainstream music scene until a couple of years later.

Nope. It was written for Louis Armstrong aka Sachmo by Sachmo by two song writers in the mid sixties.
Sachmo recorded it first in 1967.

The song by Sam Cooke came out on a single as Wonderful World in 1960. I believe some called it What a Wonderful World.

Re: Music/Song

I see. I knew Armstrong was a great entertainer from like the 40’s . But the variety shows had him on a lot in the 60’s with hello Dolly.

Sam Cooke was before my time but I knew he had a big influence . My nuts roasting on an open fire and of course Cupid were played everywhere on the related holiday. His
Wonderful World is etched in my brain thanks to Herman’s hermits cover . Mid 60’s. Which was a good feel era before Vietnam shit. We have had lots of great music since then . But society has sucked prey much over the last 60 years.
Maybe worse now than ever. So I am afraid unless someone popularizes a hip hop version of these songs , sachmo , Sam and the hermits didn’t accomplish lasting wonderful success.
Although Herman might be still out on the oldies circuit
