Noticed…….

motogrady
This post was updated on .
In the world of observed trials, which are broken into indoor and outdoor championships, the current champion
is from Spain.
His name is Toni Bou.

What’s remarkable about Toni?
Well, he’s been the World Champion, well, to put it into perspective, bothindoors and outdoors, since 2007.
Remember Sammy Miller?  The Brit? He had 2.
How about Dougie Lampkin.  The other Brit? He had 12.
Toni Bou?   Since 2007, he has never been defeated.
Both indoors and outdoors.
Toni, 38 World Championships, and counting.
All on  Montesa.

American Supercross, is set to start January 10, as usual
at Angels Stadium in California. Triumph has both a 250 and 450 this year.  Top prospects to win it this year, Hagan Deegan on the 250 Yamaha, and Jett Lawrence on the 450 works Honda.

In motogp land, it’s said Aprilla has their bike working as well as the Ducati.  Say what they will, with MM still on Red, he/they have to be the favorite to trap the brass ring again.

In baggerland, Kyle Wyland returns to defend his AMA Championship on his factory Harley.
The bagger thing keeps growing, with Motogp running I believe 8 events with them. All 8 teams will be on Harley.

Oh, and if you’ve always thought about it, and might still be able to do it, and can afford it……..

Ahhh…..1/2/2026.
A fresh start.  If one believes in that.

Motogp talk is mostly about The Guy That Came From WSK. Toprak Razgatlioglu  3 time Champion from World Superbike is set to join Jack Miller at the factory Yamaha Motogp team.
He says it’s gonna take a year, or one season, to really get the hang of the whole Motogp thing.

Did you know, for about $20 bucks, you could be a part owner of Harley Davidson?
That’s right.  That’s what a share was selling for at the close of business today.  Back in 2023 that same share cost about $50.  With the new CEO, and a new approach
who knows.  Today’s $20 might turn into next years $50.
Either way, for $100 bucks, I mean, can you even get a
Harley t shirt with matching bandana for a c note at the dealer?

Was gonna put up something about NHRA PRO Motorcycle
Top fuel Drag racing.  But, after looking around, the story is, and has been, for a long, long time, like 20 years,
Larry McBride.  AKA The Spider-Man. He’s running again, looking to make it 20 motorcycling Drag Racing Championships. At 66 years old, he holds the top speed
in the 1/4 mile at 267mph, done in 5.5 seconds.
If you get a chance to attend one of his races this year,
I mean, you’ll see a living legend.

Here’s Larry, doing what Larry does.

In motogp, the new colors and logos are starting to appear.  Aprilla is sticking with flat black kind of, but have added a past insignia, the lions head.

Mark Marquez is back on a motorcycle this week.
Not Ducatis Motogp bike, they are only allowed to practice
a certain time and place by Dorna, or Liberty, whoever owns Motogp now.  He’s doing laps on a Pingale.
Speaking of MM, he’s real close to 100 GP wins, and I believe 3 GP wins to tie or pass Rossi with this stat.

American Supercross started this week in Kalaforna this week.  Eli Tomac, after switching from the factory Yamaha to the factory KTM, wins the opener.

https://youtu.be/oeYqMLfw1FU

Look at that crowd.
Does anyone else but motogp pull that many people?

America has a guy making us proud this week.
After about a dozen rounds of Dakar, he’s like 3 hours in the lead going into the final round.
Supposed to have ran like 450 some miles in one of the rounds in one day.
450 miles in the dirt, flat out, in one day.

Skylar Howe.  Learned to ride on motorcycles he built from his dad’s salvage yard.  Now a player on the world stage.

Harley stock inches up about $1 to about $21 dollars a share.

We signed up for the guys that run American Flat Track newsletter.
This is what they put out this week.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 14, 2026) – Building on a half-decade of momentum, Progressive American Flat Track is proud to announce that its expansive partnership with Mission Foods® will continue for a sixth consecutive year in 2026.

Mission Foods, the world’s leading brand for tortillas and wraps, has been a cornerstone supporter of Progressive American Flat Track since the partnership began in 2021. Through its steadfast commitment, Mission Foods has been instrumental in elevating the series' national profile and expanding audience awareness across the sport.

In addition to its sponsorship of Progressive American Flat Track, Mission Foods has actively supported several innovative initiatives aimed at increasing fan engagement. This commitment to the sport is set to continue throughout the 2026 season.

Mission Foods returns as the title sponsor for the premier Mission AFT SuperTwins class and as the Official Tortilla, Chip, and Salsa of Progressive American Flat Track. The renewed partnership also includes the return of the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge and the season-ending Mission Foods Awards Party, while continuing the brand's high-profile role as the title sponsor of the Mission Triple Challenge, which debuted in 2025 at select events, for the Mission AFT SuperTwins.

“We are very proud to continue our partnership with American Flat Track as the title sponsor of the SuperTwins class, the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge, and the Mission Triple Challenge,” said Juan Gonzalez, Mission Foods Chief Executive Officer. “These platforms give Mission a meaningful way to connect with racing fans and help create unforgettable moments on the track.”

The Mission Triple Challenge format brings an exciting shakeup to three high-stakes events throughout the year, beginning with the season opener at the Daytona International Speedway Flat Track. The Mission Triple Challenge turns up the heat with three races of escalating intensity and challenge points to determine each event’s ultimate victor. The three Mission Triple Challenge events will be the Royal Enfield Short Track at DAYTONA II, Lima Half-Mile I, and Springfield Mile I.

Mission Foods has established these events as the most lucrative on the calendar by offering increased prize money through an escalating bonus structure. Winners of the Mission Triple Challenge will take home $2,500 for Race 1 and $5,000 for Race 2, totaling $7,500 in incentives alone before heading into the third and final race of the event. By the time the final race begins, the potential for a massive payday has already reached a fever pitch, cementing these events as appointment viewing.

At all other rounds, Mission Foods will keep the intensity high with the most exciting four laps in all of flat track thanks to the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge. Four qualifying Mission SuperTwins riders will leave it all out on the track in a winner-takes-all, no-points, four-lap shootout, with the winner taking home $5,000. That makes the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge one of the highest challenge-specific payouts in all of dirt track racing.

Mission Foods remains committed to growing the sport’s audience through widespread fan activations and retail marketing. By featuring branded athletes on grocery store displays across the country, Mission Foods ensures that Progressive American Flat Track maintains a high-profile presence both at the track and in the national marketplace.

The 2026 Progressive American Flat Track season will launch with the Royal Enfield Short Track at DAYTONA I & II at Daytona International Speedway on Thursday, March 5 and Friday, March 6.

And here in West Virginia, today, January 15th,
a guy was spotted riding what appeared to be an older Sportster to work.  I mean, it was 7:30 am. It was about 15 degrees.  Half the road was solid ice.

He had to be going to work.

Sorry, late on this one.
Cool video. That’s amazing that Larry is shooting for #20.
There used to be cycle drags on the other side of the river but it’s been awhile and I don’t see it on this year schedule.

Today you can own a piece of HD for 17 bucks.
In the 80’s 50 cents would get you a chunk.
I’d rather take my chances on gold and silver.

Following extensive scenario planning and calendar analysis, the revised date has been chosen to ensure minimal disruption to the wider MotoGP schedule. As a result, the Portuguese GP in Portimao will now take place on November 22, and the season finale in Valencia will move to November 29, while all other rounds of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship remain unaffected.

Harley stock, for whatever reason, is up a bit.
Year to date…….

Motogp…..time to pay attention if you’re interested.
It’s Ducati and Aprilla pretty close for the championship
as that series enters its final stretch.
And yes, next year they run 850cc vs 1,000cc.

After months of rumors, Green (Kawasaki), actually releases a new 2 stroke.  The size is kind of weird, it’s a 327cc, fuel injected, button start motocrosser.
125, 250 and 500 still being arguably the most recognized classes, where will it run? Harescrames maybe, but in AMA
Motocross 250 2 strokes run with 450 4 strokes.
It’s like green is releasing a bike without a home.  wth?

Talking pro motocross, the MXDN, is but weeks away.
America, imho, is sending maybe a 3rd string team.
Used to be an honor to be selected, but, well let’s just leave it at that.

Talking to a friend yesterday, said a dealer told him side by side 4 wheeler delinquents in loan payments over 3 months at an all time high.
Just sayin’

and flat track,  this is what’s up as of last week…

News notes CVisor

Commotion in the world of motocross and Supercross.

And it has nothing to do the riders.

Apparently, there is a kind of secret forum, or discussion board, for the ones that own, run, and participate in those venues.
A few events ago, a few of the team managers were complaining about the way the races were being run.  Mainly, having to run their bikes in very muddy events.  Which, so the team managers say, pretty much costs each team about 50 grand, in repair costs.

Texts between promoters and teams got a bit nasty.

Which resulted in a few of the major team managers being banned from the next event, by the promoters.

Which became news in that arena, and was reported by the various media outlets that cover that stuff.

Which pissed the promoters off even more.
Who then issued a revamped schedule on who is worthy to take pics, and how much press passes will cost.

Which is pissing off even more people.
Those that make stuff, aftermarket companies that rely on stickers and signs, are pissed.
Media outlets, magazines, are pissed.
Freelance photographers are pissed.
A lot of fans are pissed.
Hell, I’m pissed.

It’s like they, the promoters and owners of that series are butt hurt and now want to control anyone, and anything, that goes on in that series.  And charge for it.

Their defense, they are just trying to raise the level of dirt bike racing.  Make it a bit more like NASCAR or the NFL.
Like that will ever happen.

In motogp, it’s like everyone is giving up the ghost now that Marc Marquez has tied in points for the Championship.  Granted, coming back from over 100 points down at the middle of the season shows how strong a rider that guys is.

But, WTF?

There are 2 months of racing left in that series. Seems all of a sudden some bikes just aren’t working right. Or so the riders say.  Or they are switching teams next year and aren’t getting the support they should.
Or all of a sudden an operation for arm pump might be needed.

I mean, WTF is going on?

On a different note,  MV Augusta (remember them?), has finally, totally split from KTM.
They are now owned by a company known as The Art of Mobility, or something like that.  Which the Sardarov Family, the previous owners, hold the major of shares.

Their main objectives at this point, re-establish the MV Brand as its own entity.
Reexamine the dealer network.  And start designing a new, fresh line of bikes, to, well,
carry on!

And finally, Yellow, better known as Suzuki,
announce an average $1,000.00 reduction in price for their new dual sport bikes in 2027.

Hard to believe.  A price actually going down……..

Apparently KTM is clawing their way back.
Globally, they will sell under 200,000 units.
Increases in sales just about everywhere but the Americas and Canada.

They are now owned by a company called Bajhia, or something like that.  An Indian company.  Most, if not all of the bikes will be manufactured in India.

Lots of motorcycles on the roads here in West Virginia.   Hey, it is Summertime.
Yes, still a majority of the Orange and Black,
and their metric cruiser cousins.

But, the amount of ADV riders around here is amazing.

And a lot of them seem to be the real deal.
Kind of dirty, kind of unkempt, running out of State tags, I counted 22 of them around this small, sleepy town.
On a Friday afternoon.
Men on missions they appeared to be.

Talking to a guy on the edge of town yesterday, he makes a living restoring motorcycles, I asked him what’s hot as far as what people are looking for.

Believe it or not, 70s and 80s Hondas seem to be in demand.
And not the 750s or Goldwings.
The 350 and 360 twins, why, who knows,
are the hot bike people seem to be looking for this season.

If I didn’t have 5 bikes already, I would have bought a  Sportster last week off Clist.
A 1000, low miles, pretty much stock, pristine, listed for $2,700.

Biketober Fest, Fall in Daytona, runs this year about 3 weeks from now.
October 15 to 18.

www.daytonabeach.com/biketoberfest/

I can’t believe we missed this one.
Larry McBride, Spider-Man, the fastest, oldest guy out there, loses it at 200 mph back in June.

He’s ok, a few stitches, and by now probably has gone thru a case of aspirin.

Good to see HOG on the up. I’m curious what HOG’s stock is going to do with Canada’s 50% tariff that was imposed on 800cc and larger bikes in retaliation to Trump’s ban of Canadian motorcycles of 800cc’s or larger.

Could you imagine paying 50% over the American price tag for a $20k Harley. I’m sure the Canadian Harley dealers are going to take a cut in sales if the tariffs stick.

We’ve been keeping up with MotoGP still. Some of the races have been a little boring at the front.
With it being close in the points I would think there would be some good battles upfront but it seems after the first few laps the first place spot has been decided.
Austria was actually a good race.

I had totally forgotten about the Bagger World Cup series until I was scanning though the MotoGP stream in Austria and saw it. I’ve got some catching up to do.
There is like zero mention of it anywhere.
With HD pushing their $50k CVO ST baggers I would think that they would be something mentioned by them.
Not a peep.

WOW! That get off at 210mph. Amazing to see him up on his own two feet. That could have been so bad.
I read that he hit a bump, his hand came off and the wind peeled him off the bike. Just amazing.

Kinda crappy what dirt racing is doing. Sounds like they are forgetting who butters each other’s bread.
Bread can choke you if it’s too dry.

For some reason I’ve not been seeing to much of the adventure bikes like I used to. For awhile they were getting pretty thick. Not sure why I’m seeing less.
Too hot maybe. Summer was brutal here.
Cooling off now. Went straight to 50 degree mornings.
I hope it’s not a sign that winter comes early.

Was that 1000 Sportster an Ironhead? If so that’s a pretty good price for a clean stock version. Kind of a unicorn. Most of those have been molested.

A few tidbits for Fall. 10/2/2026

For the long haul wanna bee’s.

https://www.eyeonannapolis.net/2025/02/riding-across-america-what-it-really-takes-to-ride-a-motorcycle-from-coast-to-coast/

10/2/2026

HD stock is down a bit this week.
When we first started watching it last year it was going for maybe $21.00 a share.
Last week it was up to something like $27.00.
Now, today, 10/2/2026 it’s about $25.00.
Hey, it has sold for over $50.00 in the past.
It looks like the Iran thing is coming to a head.   Imagine.

Singer Billie Joel.
He’s been having medical issues, affecting his balance.  And has decided to sell his personal motorcycle collection.
Bummer.  Another guy that didn’t mind riding in the rain, giving up the ghost.

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/billy-joels-motorcycle-collection-auction-1235632877/

AMA Motocross.  2026.
With that series over,  the big dogs are…..

In the 450s, Aussie from down under, Jett Lawrence on the 450 works Honda.

In the 250s, it’s Cole Davies, from New Zealand, riding a 250 Pro Circuit Kawasaki
that grabs the golden ring.

Speedway?  Here in the States?
Yep. Mainly an Old World thing, well it kinda was around States side for a few years,
makes an appearance again.
Where?  SoCal of course.

https://youtu.be/g9BoTphCW6Q

Motogp.  4 rounds remain. This week, Japan.
Still 4 guys are in it.
Talk is tires.  New asphalt all the way around. Nobody is quite sure, hard, medium
or soft.
And it seems the riders still in it, are realizing
they’re still in it.
Time to let it all hang out in motogp.

I'm really liking your news updates Grady. Thanks for posting them up.

The Coast to Coast read was nice and spot on. When I toured I ether had my wife or another rider with me. Not a fan of a group. To many differences of opinions. The most I've had on a long weekender was a group of three bikes, three couples, on a Arkansas ride. It was a grand time. But the best times I've had was with another rider.

One of my fondest was a ride through Arkansas with Whatarush. I was on a first gen Concours. He on a 1000 Ninja. Man I can't see how he could ride that many miles on that thing but he did it with a smile the whole time.

Also had great times with my buddy Mitch. For awhile once a year we would hit the road for a week and shove about 4-5k miles in. From a trip around the great lakes and the UP, more than once, ride the southern bourbon trail to see how good whisky was made, out west to stand on a corner in Winslow Arizona, stand on the Four Corners, ride up Pikes Peak, look down into Grand Canyon (yeah, big hole), ride the tram and walk the bridge at Royal Gorge, view Utah's amazing red canyons, stand in awe of Mount Rushmore, putt around the Black Hills. ride at a 8 degree angle across the windy Badlands, as well as going just the opposite direction another time to go to Maine for a lobster and pass through the Adirondacks and the step ass grade of Mount Washington to name a few of the places we saw together.
Heck, I've seen more places with him than I have my wife.

Sadly, he crashed on our New England ride. He finished the ride but sold the bike and bought a boat.

I miss those days of touring. Best way to travel.
Touring now takes too much planning. Now I have to plan them around places that have a dialysis clinic. I prefer to just go.

That's a bummer to hear about The Piano Man. Just another sign that we are all getting old.
I would like to watch the auction just to see his collection. I'm sure the bikes will claim higher prices just because of who owned them.

I'd like to watch some Speedway racing in the flesh. Unfortunately I don't see it come up around these parts. Don't see much as for as moto racing come up around these parts except SX that I've just not ever really got into.
When Doughboy was with us he was always doing hair scrambles that I always wanted to stop by and watch but I always seemed to have something going on and never made it. He would always share his results with me. He was getting better and better all the time. Death is a buzzkill. Gone way too young.

In motocross, there are some great tracks, around the world, which at time give a great day of racing.
But it’s this event, no matter where it’s held,
that produces the best race of the year.

I’ve been to 2 of them.

The patriotism, the number of hard core fans, the different languages, the intensity of riding for your country, all wrapped up in a kind of Woodstock aura, The Motocross of Nations, is something most that see never forget.

I think we, America, pulled a 5th place this year.  No excuses.  It’s the best we as a nation could rustle up.

Team results MXON 2026

1. Belgium 23
2. Spain 26
3. The Netherlands 34
4. Latvia 52
5. USA 53
6. Italy 69
7. Great Britain 82
8. Switzerland 82
9. Australia 87
10. France 90

Hats off to Belgium.
I mean, some call it the birthplace of the sport.

One believes we got a glimpse of the best individual motocross rider on the planet, seeing Jeffery Herlings out there.  Liam Nelson, 3rd generation champion on the winning team, very cool.

And seeing thousands spectators out there,
all with one thing in common, The Motocross, ya, very cool ……,

https://youtu.be/pZcoUPcm1E4

In motogp, the tire thing on a newly resurfaced track at the Japan round was solved by Michelin pretty easy.

They just went around to all the teams and took back the soft tires.  And said nobody is allowed to run them. Since they supply all the tires in motogp, that put an end to the chunking, and blistering that was going on.

Virtually everyone ran a hard, or H tire on the rear and a medium up front.

Mark Marquez gets some flak for hiring a double to enter a rider go cart show for the fans.  Apparently they do this in F1.  To kind of hype the crowds, all the riders are supposed to attend. There’s no written contract, it’s a goodwill kind of thing.

But it’s right before the races that weekend.

Marc’s response……sorry, but it’s crunch time.  3 races left.  Mere single points separate the leaders.
There’s a World Championship at stake.
The fans maybe didn’t like it, same with whoever owns Motogp, and probably the FIM also didn’t like it.

Just another reason MM is one of the greatest to come down the pike.

He realizes, now, nothing matters, but winning the next 3 events.

Speaking of Motogp.
Harley has decided to throw most of their effort into the Motogp Bagger class next year.
Goodbye MotoAmerica, thanks for giving us 6 years to introduce and refine bagger racing.

But Factory HD has bigger fish to fry,
and Motogp is the big pond.

@2Fat, that was a great trip definitely one for best trips I’ve had. To this day I can still hear the sound of you bitting your tongue at Colton‘s when we realized we got there right before they closed.

I can’t keep those 2 straight 😬

And on the touring side.
I looked around.
Nobody seems to be doing the Cannonball thing.
The ADV guys are putting up routes and stories.

But nobody seems to be organizing a cross country road race. Or even a ride.😕

After looking around………this guy seems to hold the cross country record on elapsed time.

I agree, it was tops on my list. I still can't believe you rode that Z10 those many miles in that short of time.
My wrist and back hurt just thinking about it.

Was that in 2008?
