Wow.
Bikes are way too complicated.
Cramming all that shit into the smallest possible place.
So what’s the actual fix?

Yes they are but the power, handling and brakes on this bike is crazy. Way more than I can handle.

The fix is replacing the brake line and the fuel tank.

Some guys have reported it taking 6 weeks to get a new tank, which is what we are waiting on. I was told 4 weeks. Doesn't really mater to me right now. It's colder than a well diggers back side right now with enough salt on the road to cover Lays chip production for the next two years.

The dealer has been real good at keeping me informed. I get a text at least once a week with an update.

I was hoping to get new bars, rear shock and foot boards on this winter. It may be late winter or early spring before that happens. No bid deal really. I have the Fatty or the springers to ride if I have to finish it later. Those bikes fit me spot on. I just prefer the ST for highway use because of the fixed fairing.
1st world problems.

It doesn’t seem to
Me replacing that stuff is a fix.
It should be
Redesigned. Is the tank that bad that a redesigned line location wouldn’t solve the issue? Or is the tank being redesigned?

The fix is rerouting the hardline. The tank stays the same.

Take a screen shot of the pic in your phone of the image you want. Yes, it feels redundant.
Click on “insert image”.
Click on “Choose file”.
Select the most recent pic, which should be the screen shot you just took.
Click on “Big Size”.
Click on the blue Insert Image button.
See a line of HTML code gibberish appear on the Cyclevisor post page.
Cluck on “Post Message”.

Choose to Ride. Supports splitting everywhere.

/2 Bing carb float. They are scraping the tickler

Total PIA
My Arthritis makes it hard to reach  both buttons on the same time. Most if the time a can’t coordinate clicking and I get sent to making an emergency call which I cancel and then have to sign back into the phone.
Then the screen shot won’t work and I have to go back and use the screen shot that is saved on my phone.
Then it finally worked.
 It what an ordeal !

The line rubbed right at the weld so Harley says it's no good. For what I paid for the bike it should be right.
If it was an older bike and I was flipping the bill I'd weld it and run with it.

I wonder if HD is repairing them and putting them on new bikes. Seems a waste to just toss them.
HD won't let them go. It would make nice wall art to go next to my FXR tank that is rusted through.

Well idk. It’s not broken
I had to pull the floats to suck out the gas in the “bowls”
There is no drains . The chambers  are cast as part of carb body . They didn’t have this crappy gas back in “65
I put a little sea foam in there and buttoned it back up maybe  I will get new floats. Adjusting them is weird. But if it ain’t broke don’t fix it , right?

Well it’s lawyered up, you paid for the cost of their legal dept. so sure, you want a perfect tank. Unfortunately now your bike won’t be original .

It's not like it's noticeable. Tank will be the exact same so I don't care. This bike won't be original anyways. Stock bars are coming off.
Being replaced with 14-16" bars with some pullback.
Stock seat sucks so it's gone. Replaced with a HD comfy 2^ seat.
The stock shock is garbage so it's being replaced with a Ohlins or Progressive.
Stock windshield is too short for 2^. Replaced with a wider taller shield.
I may even put some footboards on it.
Paint may be in it's future as well. I want to get it set up they way I want it before I make that decision to make sure its a keeper.
Custom paint can make a tuff sell.

U paid how much for this freaking bike that doesn’t fit you to start with, lol. ?
Look what happened to that hotrod sportster you covered in RSD jewelry . Lol.

I am confused why you are raising the seat 2 in
Doesn’t sound like you.

Jeez Keith, I figured you’ve known me long enough to know I change something on every bike I buy.
Stock sucks. Remember those words.

My first HD was a 73 xlch when i was 20. I completely stripped it and chopped it into a rigid. Stretched it 4”, lowered it 4” switched to apes and rode the heck out of it for 10 years.
When I got the kidney transplant in 97 doc said if I was going to keep riding I needed shocks to keep the kidney so I bought a 82 Gold wing and sold the xlch. Big regret.
The wing ended up being stripped of fairing, fake tank, seat, bags, basically everything except the motor and wheels and then covered with .040 clear anodized aluminum sheet to cover the ugly.
And it goes on.
I think the only bikes I didn’t do much to was an 08 Super Glide that came with a race tuner and good pipes, the Ultra Classic year 2010 and the 08 Vision.
Oh, and your beezer but I have plans for it. Mainly a springer front end.

I typically replace all HD seats. They suck. The Ultra Classic was the only stock seat I kept. At 32,000 miles it started to break down. That’s when I traded it in for a 14 Slim.

2^ is short for 2up. I don’t think I’ve added height to any seat.

Re: "WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR MOTORCYCLE TODAY"

Well sure, but that wasn’t really my point.
Bars , pipes, seats etc is normal shit.

I am just sort of, well idk exactly,
That bike cost an extreme amount of money to start with. Your laundry list is several thousand more.
For bolt on stuff , it’s a pretty radical departure so I don’t see what the appeal of the bike was in the first place.

Stock usually does suck . But that saying used to apply to bikes like your original sportster.  Can’t comprehend buying a new stock bike that sucked this much for considerably over 20k.

I guess I am just out of touch . Part of getting old.

Out of touch? IDK, maybe. You were fortunate to live in a day when a new sportster was $1600 and $2500 for a new FLH. Those days are gone.

The ST was $25k. They gave me $16k for the Freewheeler which was at a $17k value at dealer prices.
I was done with the trike and I don’t have time to deal with tire kickers so trading in is the best way for me.
My list of changes isn’t in the thousands. I’m looking at around $2k if I can’t find some deals.
Yes it would be great if I didn’t have to spend it but because of my stub legs and short arms it’s something I have just been used to doing on just about every bike I’ve ever bought. Even used.
I’m not sure there’s a bike out there that fits me and can do 2^ stock comfortably. The Vision was the only one that didn’t require all the changes. I only had to add a backrest and luggage rack to carry a bag when touring with the wife aboard.

Re: "WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR MOTORCYCLE TODAY"

You didn’t owe me that explanation . I do understand the trade in thing.
I think you are looking minimum a grand just in shocks.

lol. Well I paid 5k for my 1979 king of the highway FLH . Dealer had 3 bikes. Low rider , 80inch cream dream and my black flh. My bike was cheaper than the low rider di I bought it stripped the touring garbage . Started a trend lol.
I rode japs and Indian before that .
I am old , yes. But not quite 2500FL old.
Close perhaps ! lol

That’s a good point you made about lucky
It was a good era . 25$ cars one could fix yourself with junk yard parts and no insurance law.
19.9 gas . 12cents mcD cheese . 25cents  a pak of luckies. 99cents a 6pk  5$ aluminum 35 mm cans.
And on and on .
We had more personal freedom despite the threat of being drafted . Computers took away a lot of that.
There was actually manned switch boards and operators and directory assistance .

Anyone remember jc Whitney 9x6 oval rear deck speaker with reverb?  Oh my!
