Ended up buying a bolt, plugging the banjo bolt hole,
and pushing it out with a grease gun hooked on the bleeder.
Great idea.

Next time I’m gonna make a fitting to go from bleeders to one of my deep vacuum pumps I use on refrigeration units.  Won’t be any messing around then.
Another great idea.

I use this Mightyvac set up for bleeding brakes.

Really cuts the replacing of brake fluid and clutch fluid to done in just minutes. One of the tools that I put off buying but now that I've done it I enjoy using it.

Ya that’s the kit I used.  It was missing the the little cup.
So, I had fluid going all over the place lol.
But I had tried filling the lines without it and realized no go
wasn’t gonna happen.

The puc, I tried compressed air, nada.
It was a friend of mine that told me to try the grease gun thing.  That worked real good.

A bit off topic, but visiting the guy that told me about the grease gun, showed me one of those Dick Mann Yankee
frames he just acquired.  Real rough but it was the real McCoy.

Used some common hardware bits to baffle some cheap mufflers for the Deluxe.

Ya safety wire good.  Specially for what you have going on there.

The steel wool pretty good replacement.

I use mineral wool insulation.
Mainly because we
Had a bunch left over from a job.
We Use it insulating exhaust ducts that come off restaurant exhaust hoods.  It’s like black/yellow, held in place with chicken fence wire.  Lowes hast it.

Been working on my 750 ss cb.
Really try keeping it all like oem.
Metric fasteners and all.
But I must admit, the rear taillight assembly went on this weekend.
Butches hardware didn’t have metric #6 x 1.25, it takes 4 of them, went with 1/4 X 1 1/4 with acorn nuts. I wanted it done.

So I’m kinda looking for a Dodge sticker I can put on it.
My work van, you need both sets of tools, metric and SAE.

I’m thinking if Chrysler can do it, why not me?

Mineral wool,,, good idea. We use it for fire proofing around our fire rated windows.
I know the steel wool won’t last forever so if I stick with these mufflers I’ll use mineral wool on the next stuffing.

The pipes I really want are $800. Not sure I want to spend the money on them just yet so I went with these cheap $150 muffs for now.

Maybe, Steel packs. I didn't have any fiberglass.

Yes, you and most everyone here is getting old. The days of $20.00 mufflers is gone. I don't think you can even get leftover takeoff oem muff's for that. Not even at a swap meet.

Heck, a meal at Taco Johns cost 20 bucks.

eeeewww,, the scent of money being burned.
Happened on my Fatboy too a couple years ago. Totally my fault. Terminal was loose.

Check eBay for your battery. I think you can get one for fifty bucks.
I typically go to the local parts store but their prices have gone up over 50% where as on eBay the prices have remained pretty much the same.
Knock off for fifty or a Yuasa for $110.

yes i suspect loose terminals. i had the battery disconnected when i was trying to figure out a fob lock out issue. i am wondering if i tightened them back up or not. the only other issue could be a shorted something putting the seat back on.

i have a battery but the neg/pos are on the wrong sides . i will make a jumper and see if the bike starts off that. batterys have
got pricey.  good delcron was in there. they are about 150 bucks or so. we will see. i have usually believed in harleys branded bats. but they have really priced large coin.
cold weather i dont want to even come out.
which reminds me i need to get stabil before my bmw gunks up.

Batteries….eh.
I’ve been looking at them as throwaway’s
lately.  My garage is unheated. I always forget
to hook up the tender or pull them and bring them inside.

And my Hondas love a strong battery.

So, screw it. 50 bucks at Walmart. Whatever brand they have. Ride 6 months, the bikes sit 6 months, repeat.

Re: "WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR MOTORCYCLE TODAY"

Well, over the weekend I think I found a nagging, and worrying issue on my 79.

If I did not ride for a week or more, I noticed the bike was real hard to start.  Especially if the battery was any kind of low.

Then, when it would, the #4 cylinder
would take a long time to clean out and start firing.

Sometimes it would need a few 1/4 mile
drag racer riding passes to clean it out.

And at times, right after start up it would knock like a rod was getting ready to appear between my feet.

Well, a whole motor can be had for 500 bucks,
and the serial numbers don’t match the frame on the 750s,
so I just kinda lived with it.

Then I noticed, after a few weeks or so of sitting, the fuel level in the tank just wasn’t what I thought it should be.

Huh.

2 weeks ago, I started turning off the fuel at the petcock as soon as I parked it.

Went out this morning, after a week sitting, turned the petcock on, hit the button and it started right up.

All 4 hitting, all 4 pipes getting hot right away.
No knock.

Thought, man, I gotta pull those carbs again and rebuild all of em.

Or, just start turning the freaking gas off when I’m done😄.

That is what I would do. Just keep shutting of the petcock.
The thought of rebuilding a four bank carb makes me want to send it over to our old CW member Terry.
Of course his old Honda probably hasn’t been out on the road for awhile.

He picked up a 1000 V-Strom with EFI and is enjoying the crab out of it. He is tired of the carbs.
He keeps saying he’s going to sell the 750. I think he’s even mentioned selling the ZRX.

Speaking of petcocks.  Last year I parked the 74 XLCH in the shed. Pulled the battery, shut off the petcock and filled it full of gas with Stabyl.
Came out in spring and the tank was dry and the right side cam cover had yellow stain running down the side.
Petcock must be junk.
