he was younger than me by almost 11 months.
i really kick myself for not buying his indian. but i was home with a new baby.
but what's worse is he passed away under circumstances i just never understood.
RIP Ernie.
He had a wife that was a bitch.
He wasn’t happy domestic wise.
Took his bike out one morning, hit some gravel and slid out.
Said there was oil all over the place.
Got it up and running.
Rode it home I believe.
Said he had a nasty bruise on his hip on the old CW Forum.
The next day he posted it was the worst bruise he’d ever seen.
I believe he passed the next day when he threw a blood clot.

I know he really loved the bike he got killed on.
I thought it was an Indian or Royal Enfield.

I remember him saying that bike was the only thing he had of any value. And his wife resented the hell out of it.
And that c;:t sold it as soon as she could.

I believe she was messing around on him, he alluded to it,
I remember telling him to just jump on his bike, ride to Florida, and just start a new life.

Told me the roads were too straight down there.

500 Royal Enfield. The last year of the pre units .
I kinda recall he wasn’t living with his wife and she went lesbian. Whatever the case , why do I think depression was involved. Apparently she was horribly rotten to the guy.

I spoke to Ernie a month or so before he left this rock.
His wife had a side piece with an artsy fartsy guy that she hung with. He confronted her about it. She didn’t deny it. Kinda confessed it with a smile like she was glad it hurt him.
Unc was living with a friend when he had his bike wreck that caused the bruising.
Unfortunately he had already kinda given up by then. I wished he’d got on his bike and left. Maybe he’d still be with us.

I spoke to his wife after he had passed. I was trying to find out funeral arrangements. She said there were none.
He was taken to a crematorium in an industrial park and burned like yesterday’s trash.
Talking to her felt like talking to a demon of ice. Cold as hell.

I think of him often, especially when the song Can’t You See by Marshal Tucker comes on.

Really makes me appreciate the wife I have. Why she puts up with me and all my health issues and motorcycle fetishes I will never understand.

Well I am not sure marshal tucker song was about an azz klown woman . But that’s right. Ernie was losing it .
Too bad, a rotten shame actually, when a guy that was such a cool dude loses his will.

Anyway relationships should be a 2 way street .
Guys do get abused . Often macho interferes with it being admitted. Then again when give and take becomes all take , well , no kids involved with Ernie so I don’t know what hold she had on him. Don’t marry looking for your mother I guess .
RIP

On top of it all, change can be a monumental thing to many.  It can be kind of scary.

Think about it for a moment.

You find one day the house you live in, you can’t ever go there again.
The people you live with, you can’t see them anymore.
Where you are gonna go, where you are gonna shower, eat and sleep, you have no idea.
All your stuff, well, there are storage units.
Wonderful.

I dunno.  All of us that were there were concerned, tried to help with advice, suggestions, hell I think as messed up as that forum was at the time it was at least a place you could talk with one another.
I’d like to think he found at least a bit of comfort over there.

Effin’ bummer really.
I think 3, 6 months in Key West he would have fit right in down there.

Well I don’t dispute what you are saying.
But Ernie was a grown man and as such should have  been much more responsible for covering his ass .
Depression sucks.

You can’t help some one unless they want to be helped.
