Re: Music/Song

Great song, best version imo.
Nobody knows who wrote it.
It’s an old piece that goes back to the Middle Ages.

The bass player, Chas Chandler.  Quit playing after the Animals, was the guy that saw Jimi Hendrix playing
coffee shops in Greenwich Village.  Signed him up as his manager, took Jimi to England where he stayed in his house till, well, Jimi just took off.

Great rendition . I can still hear it like it was recorded yesterday .
Early Animals tracks have always been part of my garage band stuff.
Saw Eric a few years back . He was still hanging in there.

I remember when that one came out. Killer album.
Hard to believe it is considered classic rock.

Not much of a fan myself.
If I ever hear Jeremiah was a bull frog at another wedding I will never go to another reception . Even if it’s one of my kids.

God said to Abraham “Kill me a son.”
Abe said “Man, you must be putting me on.”
God said “No.”
Abe said “What!”
God said “You can do what you want, but,
the next time you see me you better run.”
Abe said, “Where do you want this killin’ done?”
And God said “Out on highway 61.”

That’s the original.

But this one, this cover, doesn’t happen a lot, might even better imho. 👍

The original 61 apparently stretched from Dylan’s hometown in Minnesota to New Orleans. Pretty much a straight shot for
those heading from the Deep South to  kind of freedom the North offered.

Thinkin about it, the stories that unfolded on that 1400 miles, some call the Blues Highway, well, couldn’t be counted.

BD always struck me as a folkie , not a blues man.
But I suppose the difference is mute on their origins.
I don’t recall Dylan picking cotton or porking peoples wives along the trail .
Then I suppose leadbelly may have.

Well, he was a folkie.
I’ve read where after he left home and moved to New York City he would take the subwa/train out to Long Island and visit Woodie Guthrie, who was real sick.  Alzheimer’s or dementia, maybe Gherigs disease.

Ya, when he changed up and went electric supposedly for a year people were throwing stuff at the stage, calling him traitor, crazy stuff.

Yeah, yer right. He was folk before anything.

I imagine BD wanted to reach a wider audience thru E guitars
At any rate , his genius far out grew coffee houses.
Heck! Arlo does electric .
And how many people today even heard of Joan Baez compared to Dylan ?
The answer is blowing’ in the wind .
