I like the apes but the cheap chrome trim around the tank flange and fender has got to go. Jeeez.
Why does anyone want to show off the rust causing flange?
Why can’t they make a tank without that flange?

The Apehangers seem to have come back in style for more than a few.

Same with the whitewalls.
For years it seemed like you just didn’t see them.
Now it’s like they are on a lot of the bigger cruisers.

Kinda cool really.

I am but sure about sniffing arm pits.
That sounds like something our old friend monkeyshines would say.
Anywz- certainly seamed tanks are a beancounter deal . But it’s still unattractive. I love gas tanks . And I much prefer ones with no visual seams. When spending thousands on a new bike , a couple hunnert or more for such an esthetic improvement is certainly worth it.
Does anyone here believe the Harley Hummer tank as seen on decades of Sportsters and choppers would be the icon that it is if it had seams? I sure don’t .
And ya know , one can buy new aftermarket sporty tanks for $200. So it can’t be that much more  for non Harley oem tin to be seamless .
Back to apes. In general I think they suck . And of course there are extremes . Huge squared looking apes on baggers the worst offenders. Of course todays baggers are offensive anyway.
To each their own .
Some older bikes with what could be classified as apes are cool.

If we're going to talk apes we have to include ol' Jammin Jimmie

I'm amazed at how many places I run into him on this thing.

Proper single cable.
Apes with dual cables look cluttered.

Re: Tank seam/flange 🥺

I met Collin parked on the side of the road, trying to give a few kittens away.

He stopped, I was kind of taken aback with his RE.
An 08, from what I gather the last of the classic style.
Told me he bought it online, new, had it delivered.  He’s the original owner.  Heck of a nice guy, and a killer motorcycle.

A young supe at work bought this.
He’s so stoked.
Still has his Suzuki GSX1000.
I tried to get him to bite on a PanAm.
Couldn’t shake him from his worry that it has too much power…
