I personally like the Minnesota Fats way of doing things.
When one of his Cadillacs got dirty he would trade it in .
I am not that bad , lol, but I don’t do tires anymore.
Even when my back wasn’t this bad I shied from it.
I do have the irons and I used to do the Brit bikes and the like , but the Harley’s generally have tires too much to wrestle with .
BMW put the new tires on at the shop since it was in anyway. I didn’t think I really needed them but I got tired of the date code lectures .
My fatboy I sold last spring had its original 2003 tires on it. Only 1000 miles on them .
My 2012 Hinkley has 500 miles on its original tires . Lol.

The cycle gear near me stopped doing tires. They send the wheels out to another  cycle gear .
No way I am pulling wheels in their parking lot.

Doyle Fike bought a nice tire changer that was like $900
I almost bought one myself. But I didn’t have room in the garage . He was hard on tires and enjoyed researching them . Me? I decided if they hold air I am good.

Got the new meats on.
Front wheel was no issue, the rear however gave me fits.
I needed a second pair of hands to line everything up.
Nice day to put some miles on to get rid of the mold release.

I cleaned out the carb of the YSR50.
Set the float to give a lower level.
Pulled out the crumbs of the rotted oiled-foam air filter.
Made some pre-mix and gave it a try.

Just starting to deal with my fleet of wretches.
Some are incredibly trashed.
Some are just neglected.
I decided to start with this YSR.
I'd like to get it running again and then square up its handling issues.
It feels like the steering head area has slop, but after resetting everything around the triples, it seems the issue might be in the fork.

Back decades ago I was fond of Suzuki .
that was decades ago. All jap bikes seem the same to me now. Not to mention boring.
Honda was to complicated
Kawasaki exciting but junk
Yamaha I never had one on the road .
I could go for a 250-300 DP bike, but used ones are overpriced .

Battery is toast.
Missing one seat mount bolt.
Clutch cable snapped.
Something had made a nest in the air filter box.
One of the crappiest air filter setups I’ve ever seen.
It’s got CV carbs oh crap.

But…I can throw a leg over it no problem.
It feels size and weight wise like an open (500cc) vintage
dirt bike.
The center of gravity feels very low, I like.
Sitting on it feet are flat and the knees actually have a bend in them.
Clear title, everything is there, even the keys, all OEM.
It’s just they seem to do things so much differently from the Honda.

This project could evolve in many directions.

Only changes I see, turn signals coming off,
and a set of mirrors real close to the bars.

Gonna be interesting, going from a 650 lb bike pushing 80 hp to a 400lb bike putting out 40.
